Difficulty Accepting Change in the Workplace

We are the slaves of our habits. We get up at the same time every day, we dress in relatively the same manner, we tie our shoe laces in the same fashion, and we mostly like to eat the same breakfast each day.

People will resist changes, if they do not immediately like their new job, new role, or new working conditions.

They may choose to change by altering their behaviour and their working patterns.

In rare cases, there are some people who choose to accept all the changes without any protest or resentment, but this is not the norm.

People DO resist changes: they DO NOT like to get out of their comfort zones.

Many people leave their jobs as they are unable to cope with the new changes that their job demands:

travelling long distances to work as a result of re-location

reporting to more than one boss as a result of requirement to work on multiple projects

being unable to work with a new team as a result of a merger, especially if that team has been together for some time

no longer working with the old peer group

not doing the work which they liked and instead obliged to do something less interesting or pleasing

being resentful towards a change in policy which directly affects the conditions under which they now have to work

Other changes which make it impossible to continue with the new job, such as

"I do not like to travel a lot to get to work! The office is too far now."

"I do not like my new boss."

"I do not like my team members". "I loved my old group of peers!"

"I do not find my work interesting anymore"

These are just a few instances.

The reasons to resist changes at workplace may be innumerable.

Human psychology is very complex and human behaviour is totally unpredictable.

Adjusting to changes means compromising the predictability associated with the old ways.

It may also mean losing your old identity, losing old relationships, and facing the uncertainty of something new.

The 'future' is always uncertain and people prefer to endure the 'present'.

RiseSmart, a job search site, found that almost 30% (one in three) people already employed spend an hour a day looking for a new job.

So, we can conclude that most people have a resistance to changes in the workplace as they are used to certain habits, comfort zones and paradigms.

The key is to break the cycle of habits and adopt and adapt to new changes.

This paradigm shift can only occur if you change your mindset and way of thinking about the concept of change in the workplace.

Any factor that upsets our routine tends to upsets us. We make a habit of taking the same route to work every day and we want to work on what we are used to each day.

Even with a slight change in our work routines, we become upset.

Why are we the slaves of our habits?
Why can we not be daring and do something different each day?
Why do we see people constantly resist change in their workplace?

The answers to these questions and concerns are not easy.

We feel secure following set patterns in our personal and professional lives.

Our minds are conditioned to certain ways and we find it comforting to do exactly what we know we have to do.

That is why we resist change; we like keeping within our comfort zone.

It has been said that your place of work is like your second home.

You have a certain job profile and your duties and responsibilities fir into in that mould.

You knows what your manager expects from you and how you have to work and interact with your team-mates.

Some of the factors that can cause changes in your work environment are:

1. A change in your job title

This, of course, means that your duties could completely change and you may need to upgrade your skills.

2. Working with a new boss or being part of a new team

Everyone gets used to the comfort of predictable group dynamics and find it daunting when there are changes.

3. Changes in policies that affect your work and processes

This is particularly difficult when the changes have been made from above without any input from you or your immediate colleagues.

4. A change in your job location, work hours, working conditions and your pay

Relocation seems to be becoming prevalent.

Accepting flexible working hours to fit in with clients in other parts of the world are also on the rise.

Synonymous with this are also changed working conditions.

5. A change due to a merger, takeover, or a diversification

This last point is the most difficult to come to terms with if it is your company that is being merged with another.

If you possess and habitualise behavioural and mental flexibility, you will be in full control and even enjoy changes when you are part of them.

Cottage Home Plans For Everyone

Cottages are not just little houses built for vacationing. Modern cottages are exciting homes that make superior use of their interior space. Snug nooks and inviting corners await you in cottages of all sizes.

Since the Middle Ages, people have lived in cottages. During the 15th century, cottages were built for farm workers and their families and often included a barn and acres of land. By the 18th century, miners and weavers resided in cottages. Modern cottages are usually one and one-half stories, although single story cottages are popular for waterfront getaways. Modern cottages include ranches, Cape Cods and Katrina cottages. A cottage can be as spacious or small as you want.

Vacation retreats are often cottages because of their efficient design. Waterfront and lake communities are checkered with cottages along the shore. In days gone by, fishermen lived in these cottages to be near the water. Today vacationers flock to cottages near rivers and seas to experience the relaxation of the water. Cottages tucked away in the woods are often referred to as cabins. There are a variety of small cottage house plans to create your ideal oasis away from it all.

Many people rent a vacation cottage and become enamored with its charming appeal. Living in a cottage gives you that cozy feeling all year round. Cottages can be perched on mountains, nestled near a stream or situated right in the middle of a busy suburb or city. Cottage have a small, effective design with inviting amenities that give you a warm feeling no matter where you live. Front porches, winding staircases and doghouse windows give cottages added appeal.

Spacious cottage house plans include fireplaces, study nooks, built-in dining tables and attached outdoor rooms. Space is used wisely to create a variety of living spaces in different areas, such as a fold-out bed in a guest room that doubles as your office or craft room. If you have a cottage built on large property, include a matching garage and gazebo. Add a pool house next to an in-ground pool for an instant vacation right in your backyard.

Decorating cottages is fun and creative. Cottage-style decorating and "shabby chic" are often used in these smaller houses. Distinctive English cottage touches include hanging china on the walls, using a variety of colors and textures in one room and mixing patterns. Include plenty of family photos, lacy doilies, fragrant candles, distressed wood furniture and vintage mirrors for an old-fashioned cottage feeling throughout the house.

The affordable luxury of cottage home plans make them perfect for both vacationing and year-round enjoyment. Create your own personal retreat for a special welcome every time you enter the door.

Shopping online for cottage house plans makes it easy and fun to find exactly what you want for your main residence or vacation home. HDA, Inc. offers more than 17,000 different house plans including small cottage house plans along with ranches, Cape Cods and other unique cottage home plans you won't find anywhere else.

Astrology, Feng Shui, Magic Spells - And Selling Homes

As someone in the real estate industry, I'm always eager to find out more about buying and selling strategies. However, I'm not sure what to think about using astrology to sell a home. Or Feng Shui. Or magic spells. There are a lot of people more than happy to take your money in exchange for your magic number, star alignment, or real estate amulet, though.

Astrology has been used to divine the future since before the Common Era. Many people today view it as a harmless amusement. Move.com even has a section for "homestrology" profiles. Realty Times did an article entitled, "Look to the Stars for Decorating Advice", featuring astrologer John Marchesella, who claims that knowing your Sun Sign can help you choose colors for your home.

In some cases, astrology becomes serious business, spawning websites like realestateastrology.com that sells subscriptions for astrology questions, natal charts, and business outlooks. These cost between $25 to $50 a month. Some astrologers promise results if you buy a personal profile from them, ranging from 19.95 to hundreds of dollars. One website promised that my problems selling a home stemmed from not having my home in proper alignment with the stars. For only 39.95, I could get a astrological profile that would improve my real estate transactions. Some Realtors even claim that they use astrology to sell homes.

Magic spells aren't just for Mickey Mouse in "Fantasia" any more. Some people believe that they can help you sell your house. One spell requires allspice, myrrh and benzoin. If Eastern magic appeals to you more, there's a site that sells Chinese Prosperity Oil at the bargain price of 39.95. Apparently you can anoint the doorstep with it or burn it for a pleasing 'buy-me' scent.

Another route is to bury a statue of St. Joseph somewhere in the lawn. St. Joseph, one-time husband of Mary, the mother of Jesus, is also the patron saint of real estate sales. One site selling St. Joseph statues intimates that you can sell your house faster if you buy the bigger statue size. One wonders why it is necessary to deep-six an effigy of a saint in order for him to take notice of your house selling woes, but there is no explanation forthcoming from history aside from anecdotes.

Feng shui is a Chinese practice rooted in ancient times. Basically, the idea is arranging objects in one's life to attract positive energy. However, feng shui also attracts money from people who believe that this practice can help them sell homes. 19.95 buys one information about their element at one website. One feng shui consultant who works in real estate charges $150. An hour. On the plus side, feng shui does encourage people to pay attention to their color scheme and the placement of furniture in the home.

The principles of feng shui may actually work in real estate simply because they encourage people to arrange their house in an uncluttered fashion, with an eye for pleasing colors. Magic spells and astrology, though... are these people genuine, or are they simply taking peoples' money? The truth is that the efficacy of such things has never been proven. It's one thing to look at your horoscope for fun; another to hand someone hundreds or thousands of dollars, only to be told that your house didn't sell because the stars weren't aligned properly.

In the end, I would urge you to put your faith in a Realtor, whose 'magic' you can rely on.

Understanding the Cost of Your Bathroom Renovation Ideas

How much is your time worth?

We've all been there... you're tire of the layout of your bathroom or the color scheme or want to add a new cabinets, or some other great ideas. We see something in the magazine and before we've even really thought it through we're on our way to Home Depot. Wait! Stop! What is the true cost of your idea. It is more than just the cost of supplies.

Have you considered these costs for any bathroom renovation ideas:

- your precious time

- any permits you need

- contractors to finish the plumbing

- contractors to finish the electrical

- handyman to come save your butt if you can't finish yourself

- time off work for a big job

How Big is your Bathroom Renovation Idea?

Your time should also considered and if you will lose more money from taking time off work to contract the job on your own than it would cost to pay a contractor, you may as well pay them to take on some of the headaches. In most cases even a minor ideas will require permits and most states require any electrical work to be done by a licensed electrician. For you own safety it is a good plan and may even be required for plumbing work beyond the fixtures. If the bathroom renovation calls for tile installation, it takes a special skill to cut and place tiles so they remain waterproof an unless you have this experience you will need to contract out the work to someone who has the knowledge.

Cost Cutting Ideas

Even if you hire a contractor there are ways to cut costs. First would be to get a contractor referral from someone you trust. A bad hire in this area could leave you in a much worse place than when you started or they could get the project half done and disappear for a few days leaving you to use the neighbors bathroom. After you do hire a reputable contractor another area that you can save money is to do the cleanup yourself. After explaining your bathroom renovation ideas, work with your contractor and tell him your budget and what you are willing to do to keep in on track.

Lighting Can Make a Big Difference

New light fixtures are often part of it and changing them may not require a license. This is work that you may be able to do, but if wiring has to be installed or moved, a professional may need to get involved. A reliable contractor should be able to advise you on what you can and cannot legally do on your own and if you have the expertise can save some money on the cost of the bathroom renovation.

Benefits And Importance Of Beet Juice

Beet was looked upon by the Romans as being good for cooling the blood. Beet root is also found to benefit against feverish conditions, especially in growing children. Later generations found that beet root was also beneficial for a very strong specific action to regulate the digestive system.

The Doctrine of Signatures, which suggests that every plant illustrates its medical purpose, supposed that beet, because of its redness, was good for the blood. In fact the iron content is not particularly high, although it is said to be present in a form that is easy to assimilate.

The whole beet family (remember sugar beet) is rich in easily digested carbohydrates, even so the calorie content is not high. The red beetroot tends to concentrate rather than lose its mineral content when boiled for two hours, but the vitamins are generally reduced. Therefore when used therapeutically beetroot is usually juiced raw. Beet root juice taste has a stimulating effect not only upon the nerves of the tongue but also on the nerves in the intestines.

In Germany there is widespread use of beet juice, which is available in pasteurized form in bottles, as a powerful restorative during convalescence. It follows that beets are also good for general weakness and debility of all sorts. In combination with other juices, especially carrot and cucumber, beet juice is not only a splendid blood builder but also one of the finest therapies for sexual weakness, kidney stones, gall bladder, kidney, liver and prostate troubles.

Beet juice still remains a potent force the secrets of which are far from being unlocked. It is, after carrot, one of the chief juices in the science of natural healing as practiced on earth. The chlorine present in beet juice acts to regulate digestion by controlling the peristalsis, or natural rhythmical contractions of the gut and, because of this, the assimilation of food during the time of recovery is much assisted.

Uncooked beets keep rather better than many vegetables. If you cook beets it is important to avoid damaging or cutting the skin. If this happens the red color will leach out into the cooking water leaving the cook with a very pale beet of unattractive appearance. If the skin is accidentally damaged the leakage of color will be very much reduced if you add a few drops of lemon juice or cider vinegar to the water.

The dark green beet tops should not be discarded because they are rich in carotene and in minerals. They may be juiced in small quantities as an addition to other juices, whilst steamed they make a good and cheap alternative to spinach.

Kevin Pederson has been managing a number of natural home remedies websites which have information on information on common cold as well as importance and value of beet juice.

Enchanted Islands - Architecture of Santorini Greece

Pirates were always a fear for the inhabitants of Santorini Greece. For this reason, they built their houses on sites far from the sea and high on the cliffs.

Santorini villages are very similar to other villages of the Cycladic islands. The villages feature beautiful small white houses in narrow paved streets. This type of building homes was for several reasons:

A restricted number of safe spaces to build and dwell

Protection from the wind in winter and solar heat in the summer

Construction materials were scarce

Strong communal spirit

Security

In modern Santorini Greece you will find settlements have appeared near the sea in areas such as Kamari and Perissa, however, these settlements seem to have lost all the elements of the traditional architecture.

You can still find the traditional architecture of Santorini Greece in the villages of:

Fira: One of the most fascinating in architectural design perched on top of a cliff having thousands of steps throughout the village. The village of Fira is considered as one of the most famous or popular villages. It is also the capital.

Oia: Considered to be another famous and beautiful village in Santorini

Imerovigli

Megalohori

All the traditional villages of Santorini Greece have various mansions with beautiful marble doors. Sanotorini Greece in general is known to have some of the most beautiful villages in all the country of Greece.

Santorini Greece is probably known best by its picturesque white painted villages on top of these impressive high cliffs. There are usually blue doors and windows divided by narrow streets. Widespread wine making on the island is revealed by the many houses that have their own tank installed to crush the grapes. Many of these picturesque houses have been restored and made into beautiful villas. The cubic and circle shapes create beautiful shadows throughout the villages of Santorini Greece.

There are still some wonderful examples of days gone by architecture on the island; however, the architecture today is not always uniform. Some areas, such as the main street in the town of Akrotiri and the village of Kamari feature more nontraditional examples. Here you will find the Akrotiri lighthouse and the Archondiko Argyrou Mansion.

Another interesting aspect of their architecture is the cave-like structures that helped to keep an average temperature during the entire year. Many houses had these structures because of the volcanic history and terrain of Santorini.

Churches

The churches of Santorini are very interesting works of architecture. There are hundreds of churches and chapels in all different sizes, shapes, colors and religious beliefs. Some of these churches have become a trademark for Greece.

There is so much more to say about the distinct architecture in Santorini Greece. This article briefly describes a few areas. For more information about Santorini Greece follow the URL address in resource box to Enchanted Islands web site.

Buying A Functional House

All About Bathroom Tiles

Embraced by nearly all of the world's hotels from Hiltons to Holiday Inns, a tiled bathroom can be the ultimate in elegance and luxury while still being an economical and practical way of decorating a home bathroom.

It is the attractiveness of bathroom tiles coupled with their low maintenance that makes them a staple in top hotels from Las Vegas to Dubai.

For a start, with only a small amount of care, your bathroom tiles will be looking their best for a long, long time. A weekly wipe down is all it takes for general care, though for the tiles around your wet areas, showers and baths, it is advisable to use a daily spray cleaner. These can be bought cheaply from any supermarket, tile or D.I.Y shop. After you have finished showering (or bathing), simply spray the wet areas to prevent soap scum and mould. Nothing could be easier and your tiles will be looking their best for a long time to come.

Tiles come in all shapes and forms so no matter what your taste, you will find bathroom tiles to suit you. The price varies greatly depending on the look you want to achieve.

Ceramic and Porcelain tiles tend to be at the cheaper end of the scale, although do not think you will have to compromise on appearance, Ceramic and Porcelain tiles come in thousands of variations. Porcelain tiles are essentially Ceramic tiles but offer more water resistance than Ceramic tiles. Do not discount Ceramic tiles though, they are still very waterproof.Look for impervious tiles, these have less than 5% water absorption and are ideal for tiling a bathroom.

Moving up the scale, Glass tiles can offer a very elegant look and if kept clean and polished can make your bathroom sparkle. Despite its benefits though, Glass bathroom tiles are a little more delicate and can break more readily than other types of tile.

At the top end of the scale are natural stone bathroom tiles. Common types of natural stone bathroom tiles are Granite, Slate and Marble. Many people prefer the look of natural stone tiles, though you will be paying a premium for this look. If you are considering tiling your bathroom with natural stone tiles it is very important to check that your walls and/or floor are able to bear the weight of these tiles or you could be left with boxes of unusable tiles or even worse a broken floor or wall.

You can share the benefits of a tiled bathroom in your own home at a low cost.If you are confident to lay the bathroom tiles yourself, you can save even more money. All you need is a few days spare and a little bit of preparation.

Bathroom Fixtures Buying Guide

Bathroom fixtures are available in a broad range of styles, but selecting a fixture always relies on the following:

  • Budget
  • Material
  • Style
  • Consistency

Fixtures range from $100 to thousands of dollars depending on the quality, style, and material used. When setting aside money for a bathroom build or remodel, remember a fixture adds another level of style to any room. A simple, bare bath can become classic or modern depending on the style of fixture chosen. Setting a little extra aside for your fixtures will not only wow guests, but also raise the overall value of your house for appraisal purposes.

Bath fixtures are available out of a variety of materials such as copper, silver, platinum, and more commonly brass metal with chrome finishes. Two-tone materials can add some extra complexity to the decor and work with several shade themes. While platinum and even platinum-coated fixtures run in the $1000 range altogether, they add extra sophistication to any room. However, the more affordable fixtures (typically metal with chrome finishes) come in styles that impress any guest or can excite any homeowner.

The styles available are quite versatile. For example, there are at least three main groupings of faucets: single-hole, widespread, and vessel faucets. A single-hole structure allows for one hole where the water is released. The handle is usually part of the larger structure. A widespread is usually 8" long and sometimes longer or shorter. This grouping includes two handles, which are separate from one another and located (separately) on both sides of the spout. The final group is vessel faucets. These faucets consist of one long and lean spout with a handle that can be attached or not. Most often these vessel spouts are seen in Asian-motif bathrooms with the spout looking like a reed over a shallow and rectangular or triangular sink. Some vessel faucets also look like watering pumps over a large round thick basin.

Each of these types of faucets exhibits a certain decorating style. Some styles for your bathroom can include:

  • Modern
  • Art deco
  • Classic
  • Country
  • Traditional
  • Asian
  • Tuscan
  • Southwest

When choosing a style for your bathroom, remember that it is a place you want your guests to relax in and a space that needs to be kept clean. Clean and straight lines may help your bath area look more sanitized or encourage a guest or member of the household to clean up after him or herself. However, traditional country-themed rooms and traditional floral patterns and fixtures can also help an individual feel relaxed and refreshed while in the bathroom.

Finally, remember when it comes to fixtures, consistency is a must. While your tastes might fluctuate or fixtures may have different styles that you enjoy, plan on purchasing ones that are all the same style, color, or material and are certainly within the same price range or quality range. Without matching fixtures, no matter how attractive they might be individually, the room will look cluttered and unfocused. Instead, you want to create an environment that is consistent, calming, and refreshing.

Bathroom Mirror Lights - How to Choose the Right Kind

Bathroom mirror light can work wonders for your bathroom. Whether you admit it or not, most of us spend a considerable amount of time in front of the mirror. From this arises the necessity to get your bathroom, the latest kind of lighting available.

It is not necessary to renovate the entire bathroom lighting just because the existing lights are not modern enough. Just changing the bathroom mirror light could do the trick for you.

Factors That Have To Be Kept In Mind

Providing the correct lighting for a room is a very challenging job. Here are a few tips to make the process easier for you:

The lighting of the mirror should be such that it eliminates all unnecessary shadows.

The mirror light should provide cross lighting. You can determine this by checking whether the mirror light casts a shadow under your eyes or concentrates on your eyebrows. If it does either, then the lighting is not right. Friendly lighting is one that includes light from both the sides, above and below.

Avoid frosted bulbs or fixtures that are made out of glass shields and opaque plastic. Use illuminated bathroom mirrors instead.

Make sure that the sink front edges as well as the countertop get well illuminated with the light you select.

If your wall mirror is more than 24 inches wide then select a wall mounted light for the top of the mirror as well as the sides of the mirror. This would complete the cross lighting effect.

If the mirror is more than 26 inches wide then you would have to use a powerful overhead light source. This source should also be able to cover the mid section of the mirror.

If you can successfully incorporate all the above mentioned tips then you would easily be able to pick the right kind of bathroom mirror light for your home. While searching for the mirror lights, remember to browse the Internet and go through some discount bathroom mirrors. Who knows, you might come across the perfect kind of mirror for your bathroom.

Business Trips and the Hotel Stay

What are you looking for in a hotel stay? What needs do you have to help with your time spent there?

If you are looking to stay in a hotel while on a business trip your needs may be very different than if you were staying for a vacation. Some business perks would include some of the following that just really wouldn't be needed during a vacation.

Things such as wireless internet. If business is your priority, most likely work needs to be done. Being able to connect to the internet often times is a vital part of business elsewhere. While this could be an added bonus in your room while on a family vacation, most often time it is not a necessity.

Laundry service can sometimes also be vital. There are some hotels that, for a fee, can dry clean suits or press and launder dress shirts and pants. Especially if meetings run back to back or days on end, it might really be necessary to spruce up your business attire.

In addition, late night room service might come in handy. For those nights that are just too overloaded work wise, stopping or leaving your hotel room might be the last thing on your mind. Room service can be a great time saver while still allowing important work to get done.

Also, for business trips, some hotels offer personalized answering machines and fax services. These might prove to be valuable to the business traveler who is trying to tie up loose ends from back at the office, while still conducting business out of town.

With so many options and so many choices in the hotel industry, it is easy to find a hotel that can best suit your business needs.

How to Fix a Leaking Showerhead Faucet

A leaky showerhead can be both annoying and costly. After a few hours, the constant dripping noise is as brutal on the eardrums as nails on a chalkboard. And, even though a singular drip is only a few milliliters of water, it doesnt take long before that leaky showerhead wastes hundreds of gallons adding an extra zero to the end of the water bill.

Most homeowners dont realize that a leaking showerhead is pretty simple to fix. Theres no need to buy a new one or, worse yet, hire a plumber. You can finish the job yourself in just a few short minutes with nothing more than a screwdriver, an adjustable wrench, and a washer that you can buy for a nickel at any hardware store.

Now that youve decided to take on the job yourself, you need to understand the two most common things that go wrong with showerheads. Either they start leaking at the point where the pipe screws into the actual showerhead, or the holes in the showerhead become clogged, causing water backups and creating a leak.

First, youll need to unscrew the showerhead from the outlet pipe. To protect the showerhead from damage, wrap a towel around the point where the head screws onto the outlet piping. Take the pliers and remove the head from the outlet. Youll see the washer. Pull it off and replace it with the new one. If you think you need a tighter seal, use plumbers tape across the threads before screwing the showerhead back in.

Also, if you have a rotating or swiveling showerhead, you might as well take an extra step while you have it taken apart. To increase the swivel range and flexibility, take some lubricant, preferably silicone, and lube up the interior swivel ball before you screw the head back in.

If the holes in the showerhead are clogged, take off the faceplate by removing the screws attaching it to the head. If you cant remove the faceplate, thats okay, just keep the entire unit unscrewed. The reason showerheads get clogged is the lime deposits that are formed and get stuck in the holes over time. To get rid of the lime deposits, take either the faceplate or the whole showerhead, and soak it in a bowl of white vinegar for at least eight hours. This will dissolve the deposits, and make them easy to remove by sticking a toothpick or small nail through the holes in the showerhead. After that, scrub the faceplate with a stiff plastic brush and screw the unit back into the wall.

Creating the Perfect Home Remodeling Priority List

Home remodeling is one of those projects that can be fun or a pain in the -- you know what. It is best to start your home remodeling plan with one room at a time and decide on the value of each room to prioritize where to save and where to spend. This article will look at the value of each room to help you deiced the type of home remodeling project you may consider.

The big debate on what room is the most used room in the house could go on forever. Some say it is the kitchen others say it is the living room while others say the master bedroom. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and you can use some basic rules to see what the highest priority is for you.

If you have kids then you probably spend more time than you like in the kitchen cooking. If you have a smaller family maybe the kitchen is just a place where you are in and out. If you cook allot then the kitchen should get some very high consideration for your home remodeling project.

Do you like to play games and watch TV? If you find yourself or your family watching television often and you perhaps enjoy family night games then you should place the family room at the top of your list. Maybe it is time to add family room to your home remodeling ideas. Perhaps you could remodel a spare bedroom or add a new room to the house.

Do you have guest spend the night often? You may want to think about making a nice guest bathroom with all the luxuries of a five star hotel for your guest. Do not do this unless you love to have people stay awhile and come often. They are likely to really enjoy visiting you.

When planning your home remodeling ideas you will find that they become much easier with a good priority system. Once you know which rooms are the most important to you and your lifestyle then that is where the money should be spent on nicer upgrades. On rooms that are not high on the list, but still need some fixing you could use less expensive things to fix them up.

Bathroom Faucet Leaks

Faucet leaks can waste more water than you think. Have you ever put a cup or bowl underneath a leaky faucet and actually seen how much water is wasted. Leaky faucets should be repaired as soon as possible to prevent the waste of water in your home. Water is a precious resource and should be used wisely.

One slow drip from the faucet can waste over 5 gallons of water per day. If you think that's not a big deal, let me put it in perspective for you. 5 gallons of water per day equals 35 gallons per week, times 52 weeks in a year, that equals over 1800 gallons of water, and that's a lot of water.

The problem with a faucet leak isn't just the amount of water it waste, it will soon start to deteriorate your sinks, bathtubs and showers and could damage other sections of the home, like the wood framing. I've seen a water drip in a steel kitchen sink, in just a few years, wear a hole right through it. Keep in mind water and wind formed the Grand Canyon, water can be extremely erosive.

Faucet leaks can attract house pests, like mice, flies, ants and a wide variety of other insects.

Most faucets can usually be repaired for under $20. Most of the time the problem will be in the valves or handles that turn the water on and on. If you're not familiar with plumbing parts, you could pick up a do-it-yourself home repair manual or go online and look up the manufacturer of your faucet, for more information.

Usually the manufacturer has a diagram of the faucet, broken down into sections and you could get a pretty good idea, what parts you will need to remove, in order to replace the damaged part or parts that are creating the water leak.

Calling a plumber seems to be most homeowners last resort. They only do it if they absolutely have to. If you don't understand how a faucet works and have no desire to learn how, I would suggest you call a plumber or contact someone who can help you with your faucet leak, but get the faucet leak fixed and quit wasting water.

Spirituality - 3 Questions to Develop Your Personal Spiritual Relationship With Your Higher Power

Women often find themselves searching for deeper meaning in life.

We all know a woman who seems to be at complete peace with her divine relationship. She is serene, has confidence and her life works.

  • Maybe she grew up in a spiritually rich environment and has always felt guided and protected by her Higher Power.
  • Maybe she grew up without a spiritual foundation at all and has developed her Divine Relationship on her own.
  • Maybe she had to reinvent her relationship with her Creator for various reasons.

Whatever her path, a woman in an intimate relationship with her Higher Power is a beautiful being indeed.

So, what about you?

You intuitively know that you are intricately connected to something greater than yourself but if you don't have an established spiritual belief in place, where do you start?

Start here.

Ask yourself these 3 Important Questions designed to help you develop your own deeply personal and satisfying relationship with a Divine Power, however you choose to understand that Power.

#1 What is your current understanding of a Higher Power?

  • You may or may not have had any religious or spiritual instruction growing up. Some of what you did receive may no longer fit what you truly believe. Maybe you have gleaned bits and pieces from various sources and haven't taken the opportunity to put it all together. It doesn't matter really, you are who you are, and you are enough.

#2 How would you like to feel about your relationship with your Higher Power?

  • This may seem like an unusual question. By answering it you will understand what you need from your Divine Relationship. Everyone will want something different.

#3 What questions would you like to find your answers to?

  • You undoubtedly have some questions about spirituality. Gather them up and go looking for answers that feel right.

In the end, all paths lead to the same place.

There are no right or wrong answers. There are so many aspects of spirituality in the world. With a bit of insight you will find the path that feels right for you. You will know when it is a good fit. It will feel like you have "come home".

Caution: Some of us have been wounded spiritually at some point in our lives. If this applies to you, please give yourself the gift of finding a support system. This journey is supposed to feel good, you are supposed to feel connected and loved. Anything less than that is unacceptable. Ask someone for help.

Several Items to Think About When Building a Home

What type of Personality do I want my home to have?

When you consider building a new home, the first thing you should think about is your own personality and interests. There are many questions you should ask yourself. For instance, how often do I entertain? Do I like large gatherings, or just of few close friends? Am I the type of person who likes lots of daylight and therefore plenty of windows? Do I want to climb stairs every day, and will I still want to in ten years or so if I still own this home? Am I a craftsman-type who wants extra garage space for tools and equipment? Will I need space for an RV, quads, yard equipment, etc? Next I would want to consider the yard. For instance, if you have kids you may want a flat lot with a large grassy area for them to play.If not, a terraced garden or even a pool with lots of concrete around would be more your style. It would also be advisable to pick up one of the software programs readily available to the consumer today. There are also various magazines available to peruse for ideas. Another good idea is to drive around and take several pictures of homes that you like.

Check out the neighborhood:

One suggestion I would have is to take a drive around the area you are planning to build in several different times of day on different days of the week. This way you would get a good feel of what the neighborhood is really like. It would also be wise to check out the local school that your children would be attending. Notice the type of houses that are already there. Will your style and size fit in nicely to the existing surroundings? This may be your dream house, but you need to always think of eventual resale.

How are you going to get your new home built?

Just as there are several different ways to design your home there are also several different ways of getting it built:

1. Do it yourself. This method would likely cost less, but would definitely be more time consuming. This is not a good choice for someone with no construction knowledge or skills.
2. Act as your own general contractor. This is a great choice for those people who can do some of the work themselves. You can pick and choose what you want to do, and hire sub-contractors for those jobs that require more skill, such as electrical work. Get several bids, and remember that the cheapest is not always the best when it comes to contractors. Check all references for anyone you consider hiring!!!
3. Hire a semi custom builder. This is a builder that usually builds several houses per year, and has a set of plans that you can choose from. This would be a fairly quick method of raising the house as they are accustomed to building the same plans and they already have all their sub contractors lined up and ready to work. They often will allow some alterations to the existing plans.
4. Hire a custom builder:These folks normally build a small number of homes a year. Custom builders would work off of a set of plans presumably supplied by you. They would be much more willing and able to deviate from the original plan if you wanted changes made. They would also be likely to take pride in their work and stand behind their workmanship.

Several alternatives:

There are other options to building a home. You could choose to purchase a home that had the basic floor plan that you desired, and do a quick remodel on the inside. Or, purchase a total fixer upper and "go to town" on it, changing whatever you desired inside and out. If you already own a piece of land, you could choose a modular home, or prefab. These homes have come a long way from the "trailers" of the past. Many of them look just like a traditionally built house.

I hope this has given you plenty of "food for thought" before beginning your journey.

Should I Sealcoat My Asphalt?

There is a saying that goes something like this "your asphalt should not be sealcoated because it needs to breath". I can't tell you how many times I heard this misinformed opinion in my travels as an asphalt maintenance contractor.

To the "nay sayers" benefit, I will acknowledge that there is some truth to the statement above. New asphalt should not be sealcoated in the first 90 days to 6 months. The reason is because new asphalt goes through a curing phase in which chemicals are released from the asphalt. A tell tale sign that asphalt is still going through this phase is that there should be a rainbowish hue to water when the asphalt is wet. This is the water and the chemicals still mixing.

After the curing process has completed, it is time to sealcoat your asphalt. If asphalt is not sealed it will oxidize and begin to fade. Have you ever noticed how the color of new asphalt changes from black to brown to grey to white? My friend, this is the direct effects of sun light, water, and other external conditions.

Only sealcoating will protect your asphalt from the degradation caused by oxidation. If asphalt becomes oxidized it now loses some of its' flexibility properties, which can result in cracking. Another major benefit of sealcoating is the protection from gasoline and oil. Unfortunately, gasoline, oil and the chemicals in the asphalt binder (holds the stone together) are all petroleum based products. Why should that matter? Well, being that these are from the same source in the earth, they have a natural tendency to bond together. The result of this bonding is the oil and gasoline deteriorates the asphalt binder. Once the asphalt binder is deteriorated that stone starts to release from the surface. Next time you visit a highly populated parking lot, take a notice to the condition of the asphalt that has been heavily soiled with oil.

So the next time someone tells you that you shouldn't sealcoat your asphalt, please point them to this article at ezine.com. If they choose to ignore you, let them deal with the high cost of replacing their asphalt or paying more for crack repair.

For Home Remodeling Projects, Always Think In Terms Of Resale

Whether of not you plan to sell your house in the near term, resale value should always be a consideration whenever you are planning out a home remodeling project. In fact, you should be thinking ahead to resale before you even buy a house, because you never know when circumstances will change.

Now, having said that, my opinion on the subject of resale is this. You can either make your house generic to appeal to the masses, or you can make it special so as to appeal to the niche buyer.

If your house is pretty much generic, such as part of a development of similar homes (e.g., tract, PUD, etc.), the sale is mostly driven by price, which is a dicey proposition in a weak housing market. But if your house is unique or special in some way so as to fit the particular preferences of only a handful of niche buyers, they will pay more for it ... although it might take longer to sell if no such targeted buyer happens to be prowling your market at the moment.

A major consideration for you in the project planning stage -- or even before you purchase a home for enhancement and resale in the first place -- is to decide what market you envision for the finished product.

In my experiences performing dozens of remodeling projects on several homes over the past 16 years, some of the houses could be described as your basic California single-story ranch-style home on a flat lot, which in general has pretty broad appeal. However, one house with its reclusive hillside setting and acres of avocado orchards, and another with its two-story farmhouse design and horse facility, each appealed to a much narrower spectrum of buyers.

But contrary to what you might have heard, uniqueness is not necessarily a bad thing. Although it might take longer to sell a home with unique features -- and many prospective buyers indeed will not be willing to pay extra for them (and might not want the house at all because of them) -- that smaller group of targeted buyers who are seeking special amenities (such as a horse barn, tennis court, guest house, or swimming pool) generally will be willing to pay up for them. All things considered, I prefer to make a house somewhat unique and special ... but that doesn't mean crazy, artsy, or eclectic!

Focus on high-value projects

It is important for you to focus on high-value-added projects that are appropriate to your market and neighborhood. Of course, many home upgrades will not return the value invested through enhanced sales price -- although they might be appropriate anyway if you are doing it for your personal enjoyment. Just know in advance why you are doing the project, and don't naively assume that any project you do will give you a dollar-for-dollar increase in home value.

A swimming pool might fit into this category. Many homebuyers have no interest in dealing with a pool. However, if you really want one for your own enjoyment, you still should think ahead toward eventual resale and try to optimize its impact on home value. For example, think about placing and designing the pool in harmony with (and perhaps as a focal point of) your landscaping, i.e., think of it as a clean, soothing, and decorative waterscape, and make it as appealing as possible. The overall feel and marketability of your property will be greatly enhanced versus simply plunking a basic concrete & plaster pool and cool deck in the middle of your yard with a toddler fence around it.

Another example might be an elaborate master bathroom, with huge Jacuzzi tub, sauna, and built-in flat-screen TV. Sure, it might be your dream bathroom, but will it really fit with the rest of the home -- or the rest of the neighborhood for that matter? If you have a top-to-bottom luxury home, it might be completely appropriate, enhancing both your home's value and its appeal to that niche buyer.

Otherwise, consider whether the expense will only turn off the target buyers as an extravagance. If you are in a modest neighborhood of similar homes, be cautious of overdoing the appointments relative to what is common in the neighborhood. Although a tasteful extravagance would probably help the house sell faster, it may not add much to the price. So ask yourself, how much will this project really add to the value of my home?

Also, consider the lifetime cost of an upgrade, especially if you are planning to stay in the house for awhile. As an example, vinyl-covered wood-frame double-pane windows might be desirable for their triple benefit: strength, energy efficiency, and low maintenance.

Plan in Advance! You have heard it many times before: If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail. So start by seriously asking yourself questions like these:

  1. What am I trying to accomplish? Am I fixing up the house to sell, or do I just want to create a more pleasant living environment for my family?

  2. Does the house need major repairs that will require permits and contractor involvement, or are these projects that I can tackle myself?

  3. Should I stick to a firm budget, or can I use a flexible checkbook to pursue my vision?

  4. Do I want to immerse myself in this and get it all done as quickly as possible, or do I want to take my time and try not to get stressed out?

In any case, don't spend impulsively or frivolously! This is a trap I have fallen into, since I'm somewhat impulsive by nature. Write out a plan of some kind. It can be dynamic and changeable, but at least you'll have a basis for assigning priorities and making choices.

And keep in mind; many couples end up on the brink of divorce when they take on home projects due to either the mess, the stress, the duration, conflicting ideas, inequitable division of duties, or the financial burden. So be prepared for this before you get yourself knee-deep in it. It might be better to start small and take on each project piecemeal.

Be smart but not cheap. Seek value in your choice of projects, materials, and contractors. Ideally, all of your expenditures will increase the value of your home by at least the same amount -- but of course, there is no telling for sure when it comes to the future market price of the home.

Finally, allow me to leave you with my personal design credo:

Seek simplicity, comfort and value!

Simplicity means muted neutral colors, bright, open, airy, spacious, and uncluttered. Comfort means designing for function, usability, and durability rather than purely for style. And Value means cost-effective quality, i.e., always seeking good quality for a reasonable price.

If you keep this simple phrase in mind, it will go a long ways in helping you to dramatically and affordably transform your house

Inerrancy of the Bible - Are There Mistakes in the Bible

What does the word inerrancy main? Inerrancy would refer to text that is accurate and totally free of any errors or without any mistakes. Does this sound like any book that you have ever read or have knowledge of. Maybe there is a one sentence book that could fall into this category.

Most books however and even this article has mistakes. If I made a decision to base my life, my entire life and that of my children and grandchildren, I would want to make sure that it was accurate as possible.

Is the Bible, 100%, 90%, or even 50% accurate. Are these stories that were written by people many years ago and the lessons have been helpful but now need to be rewritten.

Does the Bible actually contain the will of God? Some scholars believe that certain sections of the Bible meet this criteria while others do not. How can these people judge if they are not God and how can we believe in this stuff is not true.

If the Bible was inspired by God but written by men, this could actually mean that God had complete control over writing the Bible or does this mean that the man wrote the Bible with gods inspiration. I'm inspired by God daily and often write about it, but don't seem to have enough followers to make it into the biblical Hall of Fame. I'm writing with inspired beliefs right now.

If there are errors in the Bible, how extensive or how many errors are there actually. There are actual stories that can be documented as historical facts. This doesn't mean the rest of the Bible is factual, nor does it mean it is historically inaccurate.

The Bible has some errors in it and some facts that we can prove but leaves us with the question, is this a book from the Creator of the universe or a book written by men, to make us believe, it was written by God and if so why are we still believe being in it. Why do some people read this book and other religious text daily? What motivates them to read holy Scripture regularly but doesn't seem to allow them enough time to find out if they are reading accurate information.

The biggest problem I have with the inerrancy of the Bible is the fact that most people tend to ignore certain truths and cling to their childhood beliefs about religion. If this is not the way or the truth, I would want to start looking for it, instead of following someone else's dreams or religious doctrine.

Developing Wealth Building Habits

If you want to be successful, you need mentors or in other words find people that have succeeded. These people can include the ultra rich like Bill Gates or Warren Buffett, but don't forget about the people around you that have created good wealth building habits.

Some of the people have great advice and will need to be listened to very intently, while others need to be put on a list and never spoken to again. If you're going to be developing wealth building habits, you're going to need some advice from wealthy people. Let me make myself clear, when I'm talking about developing wealth building habits, I'm not talking about spiritual, knowledge, Biblical or religious wealth. I'm talking about making money, as much money as you desire or feel you need.

Wealth building habits start with you. Ask yourself this question "how bad do I want or desire wealth?" Really, really, really bad or are you the kind of person that would like to be rich, but that's as far as it goes. Developing any of these habits does not include sleeping in until 11 o'clock in the morning and then complaining the rest of the day about your finances.

Bill Gates used to work 16 hours a day. How many days a week did he do that? These are the questions you're going to find the answers to. If you're interested in making $50 million, you need to find someone who can teach you, how to make $50 million.

It won't be necessary to contact Warren Buffett but I would advise you to gather as much information about him as possible. Wealth building habits start with learning about wealthy people. If they get up at four o'clock in the morning and read the newspaper until six o'clock, then exercise for 30 minutes and start working at seven o'clock, you need to start doing this also. Developing good wealth building habits over time are what most successful businessman and women have been doing for years. Study their habits and start changing yours.

If you do something every day, it will usually become a habit within 30 days.

Getting Rid Of Horrible Attic Sm

Does God Not Like Corner Backs?

I am a person that has been on a journey. Over that last few years I have really searched for a spiritual centeredness in my life. I grew up in a very religious family. Religion tore our family apart because certain philosophies could not exist. Everyone felt they had the true way to heaven. Now mind you all of them considered themselves Christian, but with their own brand of Christianity.

My family for me is a microcosm of the world. Everyone is not Christian but each religion feels as though THEY have the way to heaven. As a matter of fact if you do not believe as THEY do then you and others that think like you deserve to die! I never could understand the thought process that another creation of the God you worship should not live because you disagree on some miniscule point. For me it is difficult to understand how a creator of all things can choose one group or one person over another.

One day I was watching a football game. My team did win the game on this particular day. One of the receivers was very emotional during the game after he caught a touch down pass. He sat on the sideline actually crying! After the game a reporter asked the receiver what was going through his mind at that time. The receiver stated that he had spoken with his pastor at church the day before or sometime during the week. He said the pastor told him that God would allow him to do something great in the game to glorify him. Because the touch down was a turning point in the game the receiver surmised that this was the great thing that God had allowed him to do. God was on his side that day according to the receiver. A thought came over my mind at that moment. What did the corner back (this is person that plays a position on defense in American football) do to fall out of favor with God? Did God not like the corner back so he allowed him to get embarrassed on national TV?

I make lite of the situation with the cornerback, but it puts religion in a perspective that we should start to think about someday and I hope soon. Many people think of God as someone watching over all facets of our existence. I know some days he must get tired and just rest. He takes his eyes off the window to the world for brief times. I know this is true because I was going to the barber last week and prayed for a good hair cut. The barber messed up!

I figured I got in the same dog house as the cornerback or else he would not have gotten beat for a touch down and my barber would have had a steady hand. Or maybe he was busy with the guys involved in the war that had the guns praying that they be the ones to live and the other guy die? Have you ever thought how a God would choose which one of his creations would live when they were in conflict? People often speak of God as being the father. If that is so then how does a father choose one child over another? If you are a parent, what could your child do that you would never forgive them for and send their souls to burn in hell for eternity?

I don't think any religion has it right. When there is any thought that God will favor one over another for any reason it is wrong. When we start to question why a God does not work favorably for everyone then maybe we can move away from the thought process of God punishing one person over another. That cornerback has to know that he was not out of favor with God and that is the reason he was embarrassed by that receiver. I have come to believe that God is not a being in any sense of the word. However, there is a source that is greater than us, a source that we are all connected with. This source does not favor anyone anymore than the next person. One day I hope that religion will come to grips with its contradictions and let that lowly corner back know that him being out of favor was not the reason he was beaten on national TV. In our connection with universal consciousness, we all are as great as we choose to be.

Hi my name is Reginald Martin and my perspective is one of a holistic approach with the knowledge of how the universe weaves its interconnected tapestry and affects our lives. I am just like many of you. I have been through many of life's major ups and downs, like the birth of my children, raising a family, a divorce, Amway (any former distributors out there?) starting out dating again after years of marriage and being laid off from a job. These ups and downs can either make you or break you! My friend they made me. Although when my Amway business went under that was close to the straw that broke the camels back for me. J Just kidding. I developed a consciousness about life through the school of hard knocks that I would like to share with you. I look back on many of those events now and can laugh a little. I have been where many of you are about to go. There is a saying that I like, "you can learn from your experiences or from the experiences of others. The former will take you a lot longer to get the lesson but you will eventually learn it." I have mucho experience! My expertise is the areas of man, husband, father, brother, uncle, boss, friend and neighbor. I enjoy sports, reading, blogging and manly things like crotch scratching, yawning and stretching in the morning. Unless you have not lived you know that anything going haywire in those areas can cause you to have mental breakdown followed by a spiritual awakening, or not! And oh yeah, I kinda look at life in an irreverent quirky kind of way. I swear this is like writing an online dating profile!

Helpful Habit Planning Tips

The Do's and Don'ts of Hardwood Floors

When you finally put in a hardwood floor, you can finally sit back and enjoy the warm beauty that glows from underfoot. There is something almost breathtaking about a finished hardwood floor but it can be completely overwhelming when you stop and think about how you should care for your new home investment.

Let's face it, you can't ask people to not walk on your floor and you definitely can't leave all the furniture out of the room, although that would probably seem like the best solution to the scuff problem. Instead, you should get ready to care for your floors right from the start.

Surprisingly, hardwood floors really don't need too much extra care and most of the overall care comes in with the set up of your furniture instead of on a regular basis.

The Do's of Hardwood Flooring:

There are several do's when it comes to caring for your hardwood flooring and I have outlined them below.

Do use felt contacts and floor pads for your furniture to ensure that it won't scratch the hardwood.

Do sweep your floor regularly with brooms that have soft, fine bristles. Hard bristles may gouge your floors.

Do dust mop your floors on a regular basis. You can do this by having a soft head mop, about 12 to 18 inches in width, and a special dust mop cleaner. Simply spray the mop head and dust the hardwood. No water is necessary.

Do mop with a solution of a neutral pH cleaner and water whenever your floor needs it. Only wash with a damp mop, never swamp a hardwood floor.

Do choose cleaners that are designed for hardwood floors.

Do use floor mats at any entrance to keep dirt from being tracked across your hardwood floors.

Do wipe up any water or liquid that has spilled on your floor as soon as you see it. Moisture can damage your hardwood flooring very quickly.

The Don'ts of Hardwood Flooring:

With every do, there is a don't and obviously some of them have been identified in the do's section of this article but it is still important to look at a few don'ts that we haven't gone over yet.

Don't drag furniture when you move it. This will cause serious damage to your hardwood floors.

Don't use hard and abrasive cleaners on your hardwood floors. Also avoid using any high oil soaps and cleaners.

Don't use a vacuum with a rotating brush. The best type of vacuum to use to remove debris is a canister vacuum with floor attachments.

Don't let dirt and grime build up on your hardwood floors. Dirt works as an abrasive and will begin to cut, dent, scratch and dull your hardwood.

Don't let water collect on your hardwood flooring. Make sure you clean it up immediately. Also, keep dog dishes on a mat, and make sure you dry their paws off when they come inside during the winter or on a rainy day.

Don't expose your hardwood to long periods of direct sunlight. Sunshine will cause fading and discolouring to occur in your hardwood flooring.

If you are aware of all the do's and don'ts of caring for your hardwood floors, you should have beautiful floors for the life of your home. You shouldn't have to refinish your flooring or repair any significant problems with your flooring.

Following a regular cleaning regime with your hardwood is very simple and you will find that you spend only half the time caring for your hardwood that you would caring for a carpet.

  • Remodel your home so that you can live on the ground level if necessary.
  • Avoid steps on the main floor if possible.
  • Widen doorways to make them wheelchair accessible.
  • Try to plan the front entry as low as possible to the ground and eliminate stairs with sloping walks.
  • In a bathroom remodel, install extra reinforcement for grab bars and make them handicap accessible.
  • Use lever type faucet handles in bathrooms and the kitchen.
  • Plan for a lot of storage within easy reach - the area from 20 to 44 inches above the floor and no more than 20 deep.
  • When installing cabinets use drawers where possible.
  • Make sure that drawers have pulls that are easy to grasp.
  • Install lever handles on doors throughout the house.
  • Consider hard flooring or choose an attractive, low-pile commercial carpet.
  • Place your electric outlets higher than normal and switches lower.
  • Consider a shelf outside the front door so you can put down packages while looking for keys and bringing bags in from a car.

Not only will these upgrades to your home benefit you if you choose to retire in your home, it will also likely make it more appealing should you choose to sell it at some point later.

Finding Homes Using the Internet - Home Shopping

You can simply type the words real estate or homebuying into any search engine on the World Wide Web and you will come up with hundreds, maybe even thousands of websites that are extremely helpful and full of great information. Like the one you're on right now.

Finding homes with the internet, combined with a skilled real estate salesperson, provides you with the most effective technology available today. Most websites start out, having you select a state you would like to search in and then, select a city, with your price range.

By answering their questions, this narrows the search down to all of the homes available in the area. The internet has made home shopping very simple. Considering what you had to go through in the 1970s. You found a realtor or by looking in the yellow pages, sometimes you found a good realtor and if you are lucky, maybe you would find you a good home.

Most of the time, the first homes you would look at, were owned by the real estate professional you were working with.

There are however a couple of problems with using the internet to find your dream home. Some of the verbage used and photographs taken can create a wonderful illusion of a tropical paradise but the reality, it's a regular home in a decent neighborhood.

Some of these photos are taken by skilled photographers who take advantage of every angle and tend to give an illusion of grander. When you actually start driving around and looking at these homes, only then will you get a reality check, of what the home actually looks like. You'll get used to it.

After you've looked at a few of your future dream homes, you will get a better idea of what I'm talking about with these wonderful pictures and the extraordinary home descriptions like "Beautiful Three Bedroom House with an Ocean View." When reality it's a two-bedroom house with an extra closet for the third bedroom and the ocean is 45 miles away, but you can see it on a clear day if you actually climb to the top of the largest tree on the property.

Take your time when searching for your dream home and don't let any one push you into making a decision if you're not ready. If you find your real estate professional a little too aggressive or pushy, get out of your contract, if you've signed one and find another, more helpful real estate salesperson to help you with your home purchase.

Greg Vanden Berge is working on the internet to promote the education for creating simple to follow guides and home building books to help professional building contractors as well as the weekend warriors. He has just finished a home buyers guide to take some of the frustration out of home shopping.

Your Patio Statuary Doesn't Have to Be Large to Make a Statement

When you think of statuary, the large statues that grace gardens are usually the first ones that come to mind. If you do not have a large space outdoor, you can grace the exterior of your home with patio statuary. Such statues are small, designed to fit in a corner, on a table or in the flowerbed around the edges of the patio.

Fountain statues are very popular where you can combine the visual appeal with the soothing sounds of falling water. There are so many designs available in small statues suitable for a patio that you may have a hard time deciding which one you want to purchase.

Floor against wall patio statuary are fountains designed to sit on the floor of the patio and rest against the wall. There are numerous styles and materials to choose from to suit your outside decor. You can choose an indoor wall fountain, a small size statue, such as one that weighs about 200 pounds and measures three feet high and less than two feet wide, or if you have plenty of room, you can choose one that is a lot larger. One thing you do have to make sure of is that the floor of your patio is designed to withstand the weight of large statuary, if this is what you want.

Patio statuary runs the gamut of classical statues reminiscent of Ancient Greece and Rome, those that look like animals, or those that take on the human form. You can give your patio an Oriental look by choosing Japanese style statuary, such as Buddha statue or a temple urn.

Small statues placed on a table top will add to the ambiance of the patio and provide a conversation piece for your visitors. These can be made of stone, precast concrete, copper, bronze and even fiberglass as well as other materials. You have to choose the material that will work best with the exterior of your home and the material used in the construction of the patio and any wall fountains already in place.

You may want to choose something completely out of the ordinary in the line of patio statuary. In most regions, people spend time on the patio in the summer months when the weather is quite warm. You will truly spark interest by adding a statue of a penguin or another animal associated with colder climates when you place one of these on your patio. This will surely bring a smile to the faces of your friends and it is small enough to suit even the smallest patio.

How about freestanding large outdoor wall fountain that holds a lantern? This type of fountain will enable you to have the lighting you need on the patio that you can enjoy the outdoors and nature after dark. You can place it against a table or in the middle of the floor, as long as it is close to an electrical outlet.

There are also such statues that use tealight candles and provide a romantic ambiance for your patio. Solar lighting is also available in this range of statuary for the patio, which makes it truly portable and safe to use. Simply place a solar panel within range of the statue and the daylight will charge the lighting so that it will automatically come on when the sun goes down.

Skylight Framing With Light

Ezekiel Prophecy - Bridge Uniting House of Judah and House of Joseph

The following is a bridge from the Native American spiritual path, the Red Road, as taught by Cherokee elder John Red Hat Duke, to Torah, the holy scriptures of our ancestors in Jerusalem, on which Judah (Jews) and Joseph (Hopi and those tribes associated with them) may unite with HaShem's blessing.

Note: The union of the House of Judah and the House of Joseph is the same event as the completion of the Hopi migration back to Jerusalem, as revealed to Dorothy by Creator. Ezekiel 37

Step 1: Observe nature with awe and gratitude. A sense of love and respect for all creation will begin to grow within me.

Creation. Our universe. The cycles of life and death. A vast composite of exquisite harmony; a truly beautiful harmonic symphony of melodious verse with each vibratory element sustaining one another, loving one another. This is truly a miracle of melodies played out in the grand scheme of creation.

HaShem's plan for humanity is wondrous and exciting! As the salmon swim upstream every year to spawn, they are led by HaShem's awesome spirit. In the wondrous scheme of HaShem's creation, all of creation follows an internal instinct, and so Jacob's children yearn to go home. HaShem has provided an inheritance for them in Judea-Samaria so His plan of creation may be fulfilled.

Step 2: Learn to trust Creator and accept my circumstances. Overcoming adversity will produce spiritual growth within me as I walk the Red Road.

Today we face great adversities, probably greater than any of us have ever seen in our lifetimes. It is also a wonderful time of great opportunity for spiritual growth. We have the potential of rising to great spiritual heights; even to the place of forgiveness, love and tolerance where we will be prepared for the coming of Messiah.

Moses' life was filled with circumstances that tested his faith in HaShem, G-d. He was instructed by Creator to go to Pharaoh and lead the Israelites out of Egypt. Moses had to trust HaShem or he would have given up on his mission before he ever began it because in his mind the work was impossible. Yet, if he had given up and not trusted HaShem, the Israelites could still be living as slaves under the Egyptians, but HaShem's plan was fulfilled. The Israelites were protected and sustained. Creator led them through the wilderness to the land of milk and honey. Through all the adversity of wandering in the wilderness, Moses had to convince the people of Israel to accept their circumstances and trust HaShem and He would lead them home.

We have a tendency to quickly enter the land of 'fire and ice," where our emotions fluctuate to extreme anger (fire) and to coldness and judgment (ice.) Now we must learn to enter the land of 'milk and honey,' where we will nourish, i.e. provide milk for all the children of Jacob with an attitude of sweet forgiveness, i.e. with the sweetness of honey. May we move beyond the place of being extremely difficult to appease to a place where we will bring joy to Jacob and all of our ancestors who wait with hopeful hearts that we will enter the land of milk and honey.

Step 3: Seek for truth within myself, that I may remove hypocrisy and evil intent from within my heart.

Creator is the third partner in procreation. It is He who gives life. It is interesting to note that procreation is the first mitzvah mentioned in the Torah, which gives it primary importance.

Children are the greatest blessing we can have in this life, and Jacob's children were no exception. They were his greatest joy, and it is said that Joseph was his favorite.

This apparently caused jealousy in the hearts of his brothers, except for Benjamin. So they contrived evil action against Joseph to get rid of him. They contemplated killing him, but ended up throwing him down a well from which he was sold into slavery in Egypt.

Joseph's brothers, including Judah, then went home and practiced possibly the greatest hypocrisy and deception of their lives. They pretended to be grief stricken, and convinced their father, Jacob, that Joseph had been mauled to death by wild animals.

However, HaShem was with Joseph, and turned the evil action of his brothers into a positive guidance and blessing for Joseph and for all of Israel.

There is a way to remove jealousy and evil intent from our hearts and return to live in the abundant blessings and unconditional love of HaShem. HaShem commanded the Israelites that He is Yahweh their God who brought them out of Egypt where they lived as slaves. They shall have no other gods to rival Him.

As we serve others with loving-kindness, we serve HaShem. As we allow His Living Waters to flow through our hearts and bring joy to others, the flowing water also purifies our own hearts through love, and this prepares our hearts to be ready for the coming of Messiah. The reason the union has not occurred between Judah and Joseph prior to now is because the people have not been ready! There has been no water in the well!

Is there any other way for all the children of Israel to regain wonderful blessed companionship with Creator except to accept each other with unconditional love and return to being the unified family of Jacob? Let's bring Joseph back home to his father and receive HaShem's blessing.

Step 4: Repent and humbly surrender my will to Creator, that I may become one with Great Spirit.

The joy of walking in harmony with Creator cannot be surpassed by any worldly activity. It produces a profound sense of peace and completeness; it answers the question, "Who am I?"

The House of Israel sinned against HaShem. We chose to live wickedly and rebel against Him. Before we can walk in harmony with Him again, we must see our own wickedness as repulsive and turn away from it in humility and repentance. We must ask HaShem's forgiveness.

We must surrender our arrogant self-will to Creator's will. For instance, He told us to remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy, and He declared the seventh day as the Sabbath.

Some of us feel it does not matter which day we choose to call the Sabbath, but that is not humble surrender to the will of HaShem; it is arrogant self-will! The Sabbath given to man was a blessing from HaShem, and a blessing once given cannot be changed! If we desire to walk in companionship with Him and receive of His blessing, we must repent and humbly surrender to His will.

When we have turned away from our wicked ways, and received Creator's forgiveness, then we will be ready to accept our inheritance in Judea-Samaria. Currently, Judah is in control of this area. Although HaShem has promised to join together Judah and Joseph as one stick, it will only be accomplished when the people are ready. Judah must be ready as well as the Ten Northern Tribes; the House of Joseph.

It is not enough to walk in the ways of the Noachide Laws, or to adhere to the 613 laws of the Torah. This is like singing in low bass; a very low vibration. We must sing in high tenor or soprano at a much higher vibration. We must walk the higher spiritual path of purity and unconditional love; the spiritual path of the Keetoowah, the Red Road, in the truth of the Torah. This can only be accomplished by learning to walk in the way Creator commanded when He told us to not bear any grudge against the children of His people, but to love our neighbor as ourselves. (Leviticus 19:18)

All children of Jacob, Israel, must accept one another in the way HaShem commanded before we will be ready to fulfill the prophecy in Ezekiel 37:19. May we be quick to forgive perceived wrongs, and not relish being cruel and difficult to appease. May Israel again see all his children united as one family.

Step 5: Communicate with Great Spirit from my heart; listen, and live the insight I receive.

Israel is to listen! Yahweh our G-d is one G-d, and we must love Him with all our heart, soul, and strength. (Deuteronomy 6:4-5)

Have we lost the unity between our body, mind and spirit? Is our worship of HaShem lip service only? We can try to convince others that we walk with HaShem by speaking about holy things. However, our actions speak much louder than our words, and our actions betray what is in our hearts, and what is in our hearts is who we really are.

Some Israelites were thorns in the side of Moses. They tried to convince the people that they should return to Egypt to the good life. These are the dark forces that are with us still.

Today, Joseph wants to return home and claim his inheritance, but there are those who would deny him that which HaShem has provided, saying Joseph's children are an abomination in the sight of Creator and would only destroy eretz Israel if they were allowed to return.

Judah is refusing to invite Joseph back home, and in some ways he has good reason. The Ten Northern Tribes of Israel have not been living as a light reflecting the wonderful love of HaShem. They have assimilated into the many Nations of the world and many of them are living in idolatry today.

But what has Judah done to draw them back into the love of HaShem? Where is the light that would light the pathway for the rest of Jacob's children to find their way back into the joyous place of living in harmony with Creator? Judah, herself, does not appear to carry this light!

We must rise above the material world of law, only, into the spiritual world of HaShem. It is here that love resides; that HaShem resides. It is here that Light exists. It is here that our thoughts exist and we make our choices.

Creator has given us instruction; we are to have a heart full of unconditional love. If we refuse to accept our brothers and sisters of the House of Israel with unconditional love and forgiveness, and with a helpful spirit to help each other prepare to stand before HaShem in purity and truth, then we are a hypocritical people; we worship HaShem with our lips only! We must live His commands if we are to truly be His people! We must love our people as ourselves; all the children of Jacob!

Step 6: Learn true abstinence. It is in serving others, with an attitude of loving-kindness that I create a flow of Living Waters which will purify my heart.

Joseph served his Egyptian master well. Even when he was falsely accused and imprisoned, he retained his attitude of servitude and loving-kindness by interpreting the dreams of the chief cup-bearer and the chief baker. When the pharaoh had two dreams and could find no one to interpret them, the chief cup-bearer remembered Joseph and told the Pharaoh how he had interpreted his and the chief baker's dreams accurately.

So the Pharaoh called Joseph to him and asked him to interpret his dreams. He did so, and then suggested how the Pharaoh should govern in the approaching times of plenty and famine.

Pharaoh approved of his suggestions and the interpretation of his dreams, and therefore promoted Joseph to chancellor. Only his own throne was above Joseph.

Joseph was blessed by HaShem, and because Pharaoh accepted Joseph into his household, he prospered.

Joseph knew and acknowledged that it was HaShem who interpreted the dreams. He also knew that when he served others, he served Creator.

When Joseph's brothers came to him during the famine and asked for food, Joseph lovingly fed them and provided additional food for them and their families. It was this service with loving-kindness that created tremendous joy in Joseph's heart; the joy of serving HaShem.

Jacob's family was reunited, and the flow of love, the flow of Living Waters, moved them all to tears. This is why water is used as the symbol for the cleansing of the soul. Flowing water purifies, and love flowing from HaShem through compassionate servants like Joseph purify their hearts with the flow of living waters.

This same joy will be experienced again when Joseph's brothers serve HaShem by welcoming Joseph's children and the other members of the House of Israel home. It is then that HaShem will establish a new covenant with the House of Judah and the House of Israel. It will be a covenant written in the heart, a covenant of unconditional love without judgment. It will be a time of great joy and abundant blessing as we experience the wonderful love and compassion of HaShem.

Step 7: Attain complete, joyous harmony with Great Spirit; walk the Red Road. This requires that I totally surrender my will to the will of Creator, and love others unconditionally without judgment because that is who I am.

IAM is calling. Have we forgotten how to listen to His voice? Have Judah and the House of Israel become deaf to the voice of HaShem and turned to self-worship in the ways of the world?

We must return to the ways of the traditional ancestors if we would be ready to welcome Messiah (Masaau). We must return to the ways of Abraham, and the ways HaShem taught Moses when he called His children out of Egypt; out of bondage into a land of milk and honey.

We are invited to enter the land of milk and honey and we can do this by inviting our children home with a sweet, forgiving spirit.

It is time to do more than talk about HaShem and about holy things. It is time to BE that which we were created to be. It is time to become one with the wonderful, awesome IAM; to walk in companionship with Him as Adam and Eve did in the Garden of Eden.

Joseph was a wonderful example, and we can do this as he did. With a forgiving spirit, he fed his brothers when they came to ask for food from him in Egypt during the famine.

Joseph depicted a man totally surrendered to the will of HaShem, else he would have judged his brothers guilty and unconditional love and forgiveness would not have been possible.

Joseph walked the Red Road by fulfilling HaShem's Law of Love, and now Joseph's children are asking his brothers to complete HaShem's plan of Creation by walking in companionship with them along the Red Road and inviting them to come home. Will HaShem hold Judah guiltless if they do any less?

Daigle. These books can be ordered from any bookstore or online from http://www.iuniverse.com or Amazon.com

Dorothy was taught by Cherokee elder and wisdom keeper, John Red Hat Duke, for over ten years in the Keetoowah Cherokee spiritual ways, in Eastern philosophy, and in Judaism. She was raised Christian so she has a good working knowledge of Christianity. She now follows no religion but strives to walk the Red Road spiritual path according to Jesus' teachings.

She received her call from Creator in the fall of '92, and was then taught by the great prophet Elijah for four years. She was given four assurances by Creator when He called her. She was told that she was anointed by the Holy One of Israel, that she would be protected until this work was done, that Creator would go before her whenever He sent her somewhere, and that she did not have to prove herself to anyone. She is one of Creator's prophesied Two Witnesses. She carries wisdom of many years of living under Creator's guidance and direction.
