Home Handyman

Home handymen are professionals who do varied kinds of jobs in domestic households related to electrical installations, plumbing, house renovation, house cleaning, and small construction works. Many home handymen are self-employed and are paid on an hourly basis whereas others work for a contractor or organization that pays fixed monthly salaries.

Home handyman provide assistance in carrying out small to medium level household repair and maintenance jobs such as remodeling the kitchen or bathroom, finishing the attic or basement, installing drywall or ceramic tile, hanging shelves, and building a deck or fence. These jobs are too small for hiring a full time contractor and are normally completed with the assistance of a handyman.

Home handyman use different types of tools and equipment for carrying out their activities. These tools may include insulated tools for carrying out electrical works that can withstand voltage in the range of 1000 volts to 1500 volts. Other tools may include pliers, screwdrivers, knives, scissors, bolt cutters, cable cutters, and hammers. Bags that carry these accessories are made from a combination of cotton cloth, leather, and other strong material to make it long lasting.

People wanting to avail of the services of home handymen can either contact a handyman contractor or find an experienced self-employed handyman who can perform the required job. Contractors usually charge a fixed rate whereas self-employed handyman quote their own hourly rates after assessing the type of work and the labor involved. It is better to hire self-employed handyman as their payment terms can be negotiated.

It is important to assess the work skills and experience of handymen before hiring them. An unskilled handyman can ruin the proposed construction or maintenance work and adversely affect the budget of the homeowner. People can take help from friends and associates in hiring a handyman who has all the required skills and experience for completing the required job.

7 Quick & Easy Ways to Avoid Procrastination

Procrastination is an extremely common problem, and every one of us will have experienced it! You know that you have to get something done, but you will do anything to avoid actually having to do it. I'm not one for doing housework, but when I had to study for exams, I was more than happy to clean the oven or defrost the fridge.

Here are 7 tips that I personally use to avoid the pitfalls of procrastination.

1) Early in the day, write down a maximum of 5 things that you absolutely must do today. By writing them down, you will see exactly what you need to do. Having various tasks swirling around in your head won't help you get anything done!

2) Restrict your list to 5 tasks. Anymore than that and you just won't know where to start.

3) Look at the list and decide on 3 tasks that you will be able to complete quickly and without too much effort. Normally, you would be advised to do the hardest tasks first. But think about it. If you procrastinate with the hardest tasks, then you won't complete anything on your list!

4) When you complete a task, take great pleasure in striking it off your list. Take a couple of minutes "out" to congratulate yourself on completing it. Feel really positive about your accomplishment, no matter how small or trivial the task was.

5) For the "harder" tasks on your list, you must look at these in a positive way. If it is something you really don't like doing, imagine that the task has been completed, and reflect on how great you will feel once it has been done. See yourself striking the task off your list, and congratulating yourself for completing it.

6) Having a sense of accomplishment will make all the difference when tackling your next task. The problem with procrastination is that if you don't complete anything on your list, then you miss out on this wonderful feeling. Get your first task done and your feelings of accomplishment will snowball as you continue to tackle more items on the list.

7) Sometimes tasks just have to be done, whether you like to do them or not. This is where you really just have to get on and do it. Besides the wonderful feeling of accomplishment (which will be greater the more you hate the task!), you will be rewarded by the benefits that completing that task will bring. Before starting the task, decide on an additional reward that you will give yourself when it is completed.

Procrastination prevents us from achieving the things in life that will help us grow and to reach our full potential. Enjoy the challenge of completing your daily tasks and congratulate yourself on achieving so much that day.

As you continue to achieve more and more, procrastination will soon become a thing of the past!

Creating super habits are easier than you could ever imagine. Most people have something they would like to change in their lives. If you ask anyone, they are usually able to answer this question, "If you could change anything about yourself, what would you change." All the self help and personal development programs and Books available today are full of useful information that nobody seems to take advantage of. You've seen the TV commercials and listen to other people tell their stories, about how they lost weight.

Magic Of Believing Book

Letting Go of the Past - The Time for Forgiveness

Now is a time for letting go of things of the past that have caused heartache, and of the judgments which have been made in order to ease the heart's pain through a sealing off of forgiveness toward the source of the wounding. This sealing off prevents further healing from taking place, not only in the specific relationship within which the woundedness occurred, but also within the deeper recesses of the heart and body that holds an area of dysfunction which remains 'raw'.

Resentment, judgment, and an unwillingness to forgive binds us to the past as much as the heaviest chain of association and commitment. It holds us in a place of stasis so that no further movement is possible in the area in which forgiveness has not taken place. This unwillingness to let go is based on a desire to relieve pain by hardening the heart, therefore creating at one and the same time a sense of invulnerability to the repetition of being hurt again, and also a sense of being able to do something, internally, to rectify the situation.

However, hardening of the heart is a false solution to a real problem. What hardens the heart also restricts the flow of life energy to all parts of the body and consciousness. What hardens the heart also limits the capacity of the soul to enter the body because the hardness effectively creates a closed door to the soul's expression. It is only the softening of the heart that can produce a healing of the body and soul. It is only the melting away of anger that can free the consciousness to become aware of life's gifts so that resentment does not predominate. Where anger, resentment, and blame prevail, there life cannot be experienced in its fullness, but only through the small crack in the armor that judgment and lack of forgiveness permit.

The necessity for letting go of the past becomes more critical today as the presence of increasing light exposes to awareness those things that one has held onto that cannot merge with the higher light. These areas of opacity prevent further healing from taking place, and, if held onto with great force, can prevent the soul from receiving that which it seeks the most namely peace, and a sense of trust once again in life's wholeness.

The belief that one is in charge of one's own life is true in relation to the things we choose to create or to refrain from creating. Yet, this is always qualified by the fact that we interact at all times with other planes of existence, and so what we choose to create on this plane will interact with its effects on other planes and bring to us consequences that are unforeseen, since we were unaware that they existed within a larger picture.

Thus, it is with forgiveness and its absence. The higher spiritual planes cannot penetrate the heart that is hardened by a decision to remain closed to love and to remain anchored in blame. In order for grace to prevail, there must be a willingness to let this go.

Therefore, to those of the earth who are presently engaged in conflict with the full sense of justification that it must be, let it be said that there can never be a state of peace that arises out of victory in such conflict, for peace can only arise out of letting go of anger and blame. It can never arise out of victory over another whom one, for the moment, has defeated.

In this moment of time, before the entrance into the physical plane of even greater conflict than is presently occurring, and in order to prevent such conflict from taking place, let us diligently cleanse our hearts of all that we hold of antagonism toward others and of judgment toward ourselves and others, so that in this crucial moment of planetary transformation, we can contribute to the outcome of ongoing change by becoming a force for peace.

Julie Redstone is a teacher, writer, and founder of Light Omega, a center for spiritual teaching and healing in Western Massachusetts. The purpose of Light Omega is to create an understanding of the sacred transition into light that the earth is presently going through and the changes this will bring to individual and planetary consciousness.

Three Keys to Hiring the Best Remodeling Contractor

When it comes to hiring a remodeling contractor there's a few simple things that you can do to be sure to get a quality bid. If you're in the process of doing some new fixes to your home or perhaps you've invested in a home that you want fixed up then you're inevitably going to need to hire somebody to do some of the repairs. This article will give you three simple tips that you can use to find the best remodeling contractor.

Visit Your Local Home Improvement Store

The first thing that you need to do is visit some of your local home improvement centers and ask them for quality references. You'll also have your friends and neighbors that you can ask - if they have had work done recently. However you're top professionals will be buying supplies on a regular basis from the home improvement stores and this is a good indicator that they're obviously doing good work and are busy.

Make Sure You're Comparing Apples for Apple's

The next thing that you need to do is make sure that you are getting bids on the same exact project from each contractor. You want to make sure that the materials are the same for each bid. The key is to not be afraid to ask each contractor, what types of material and the grade or what sizes they are estimating everything on.

Be Clear and Precise

When explaining what type of look and feel that you're hoping to get out of your remodeling job - Make sure that you explain to the remodeling contractor exactly what you hope to achieve. The more guesswork that they have to do and the more planning that they have to do for you the more expensive it's going to get.

Saul of Taursus - Notable Lifetimes of the Ascended Masters

Saul of Taursus is a pivotal figure in the early formation of the Christian church. His conversion and resulting new life as Paul, author of many key writings and letters in the New Testament, are some of most well-known events in Christianity. His views and opinions have shaped Christianity for over two thousand years.

Saul of Tarsus was a determined persecutor of Christians, originally seeing them as a rebellious faction and a danger to the government and society. He consented to the stoning of St. Stephen, the first martyr of the Christian church. Although they were alive during overlapping time periods, Saul never met Jesus in person.

After the death and resurrection of Jesus, Saul was traveling on the road to Damascus when a vision of Jesus appeared to him, saying, "It is hard for thee to kick against the pricks." Saul was temporarily blinded after this vision. Saul took the name Paul, and resolved to spread the word of truth throughout the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Three years after his conversion, Paul spent three years in seclusion in the Arabian Desert. Some believe he was in communication with Jesus through visions and meditation during this time.

Paul worked tirelessly to spread Christianity for the rest of his life. Many people believe that Paul achieved sainthood in that lifetime. Others believe that he needed additional lifetimes to perfect himself and atone for his responsibility for the torture of Christians. Those who believe that Paul needed additional lifetimes now acknowledge him as Hilarion, the master of the fifth ray of healing.

Rose Greenwood is a freelance writer specializing in spirituality and natural health. Small Things Lead To Change

Does Home Improvement Still Make Sense In A Housing Slump?

Last night I watched a home improvement show in which a Florida couple had spent $50,000 updating their home. Now they were asking their realtor for a home appraisal. Amazingly, the realtor told them their renovation had increased the value of their home by $120,000 - more than a two-to-one return on their investment!

Cable TV is filled with shows like this that inspire homeowners to take on kitchen remodeling, bedroom makeovers or similar projects.

But many of these shows were filmed two or three years ago during the height of the housing boom.

As we enter 2008 we face a very different housing market in which nationwide home prices are stagnant and even declining in some markets.

In this sort of environment, does home improvement still make sense? The answer depends on what sort of home improvement you want to tackle.

Avoid Style Makeovers

First, it's time for a reality check. Even during the peak of the housing boom, the idea that remodeling your home produced a high return on investment was simply a myth.

According to 2004 survey by Remodeling Magazine, the average home renovation returned only 80% of its value at the time of resale.

So for every dollar you invested in a major renovation, you could expect $0.80 back in your pocket. And that was in 2004, when home values across the country were climbing at an unprecedented rate.

If you want a style makeover to make yourself happy, by all means you should do it. But you shouldn't expect it to dramatically increase the resale value of your home.

In fact, your taste could well end up driving away potential buyers. Personal tastes can be tricky. You may love red and gold walls in your living room, but some buyers will see this as a liability that needs to be fixed.

Even if your tastes are in step with current tastes, styles will change over time. Your choice of kitchen tile and countertops may be in line with current fashion, but if you don't plan to sell your home for another ten years, the style may well be dated when you sell.

Keep in Step with Your Neighborhood

Your home's location is still the biggest factor determining its value. With that in mind, renovations make the most sense if they bring your house up to the norm for the neighborhood.

If your 3,000 square foot home has only two bathrooms, adding a third bathroom makes sense. If all other homes in your neighborhood have a deck, then adding one to your home makes sense as well.

But this rule only applies to major items. Just because your neighbor added solid gold faucets and a sunken marble bathtub doesn't mean you should remodel your master bath to keep pace.

And if you are already the biggest house on the block, further home upgrades will do little to increase the value of your home.

Invest in Home Maintenance.

Home repairs and preventative maintenance are the best investment you can make in your house, and they make sense regardless of whether the housing market is in a boom or a bust. They won't necessarily raise the value of your home, but they can prevent your home from loosing far more value due to damage and wear.

Putting off repairs simply means they will cost more when you do get around to fixing them. A crack from a settling foundation will expand over time. Water damage from a leaky gutter will only cause further wear to your exterior walls.

When you sell your house these issues will almost certainly come up in the home inspection, and you may need to discount your home's price to allow the buyer to make repairs. Worse, too large a repair bill may simply scare a buyer away.

The Bottom Line:

Overall, the best advice is to invest in sound home improvements that keep your house in good shape and up to the standard of your neighborhood.

If you still want to make a style upgrade, that's fine. But do it for aesthetic reasons, not financial ones.

Benefits of Hunter XC Controller Timers

When selecting an irrigation control timer, consider the Hunter XC Controller Timers. They are versatile, yet easy to use and are perfect for the residential landscape. Here are some of the best features and benefits.

Three Programs, Four Start Times per Controller

With three separate programs and four start times available per program, a homeowner has almost unlimited flexibility to take care of each watering zone in the lawn.

Day Off Feature for Local Regulation Compliance

Many cities now have mandatory days off from irrigation. The Hunter XC irrigation controllers allow the user to select one mandatory day off, which will give the user peace of mind that the irrigation will not accidentally go off on a water restriction day, saving the user from a citation.

Several Power Backup Features

Anything plugged into an overall electrical system is bound to encounter problems with surges and power outages. A 3v lithium battery is included with the Hunter controllers to ensure that all programs are backed up in the event of a prolonged power outage. The controllers also have built-in surge protection to withstand electrical surges.

Diagnostic Programs for easy Troubleshooting

The Hunter Quick Check is a program that allows users to quickly check for problems within the controller system. The owner's manual comes with a comprehensive list of common questions for troubleshooting and the, generally simple, solutions. Users can also run test programs from the controller.

Perfect Size for Residential Landscapes

The Hunter XC Controller Timers are the perfect size for residential landscapes. They offer the versatility of larger irrigation controllers, with ease of programming. These timers come in four, six or eight station capacity and can handle enough power to run up to three solenoid valves at one time.

Contractor Features

Irrigation and landscape contractors have the ability to set a default program that is stored within the memory of the controller and can be recalled in the event that a homeowner inadvertently resets the irrigation controller to a less than effective program. This saves valuable time in re-programming the machine.

Water Saving Features

Output for each program can be adjusted from 0% to 150%, and each program can be set on a 1-7 day rain delay. The multiple stations and multiple program features allow the irrigation settings to be tailored to each individual area of the lawn or garden, ensuring that each spot gets just enough water-not too much and not too little.

Flexible Run Times

In addition to flexible start times, each program can run from one minute to four hours on automatic programming. The system can also operate manually with use of the programming dial to override the existing program. After the manual override, the programs will return to normal during the subsequent cycle.

For residential landscapes managed by homeowners or landscape contractors, the Hunter XC Controller Timers combine the features and benefits of much more complicated systems in an easy to use and maintain interface.

Tips For Protecting Your Building From Water Damage

Water and dampness can both have devastating effects on buildings unless they are waterproofed. Extended exposure to wetness can cause your structure to deteriorate both inside and out and can pose a health threat to people using the facility. The costs involved in repairing a building which has sustained water damage will be much higher than if you'd just waterproofed it in the first place.

There are a number of different reasons why a building can develop water leaks. Possibly the materials used were too porous or flawed, splices could have been sealed poorly, or cracks may have formed when the building settled. Humidity can also cause water problems both inside and out, and so can groundwater.

Before treating any surface, you need to make sure the area is clean so that your sealant will stick. You will be able to treat new surfaces as well as those which have been treated before, and for best results you want to apply the coating well before you notice any leaks.

There are three basic types of waterproofing that have been classified based on where the water originates and the various effects it has on buildings and concrete. The three types are:

* Surface waterproofing which can be done by coating surfaces with various products such as vinyl pastes, resins, and sealants.

* Integral waterproofing, such as what you might do on your driveway or patio cement, which is sprayed onto the surface and soaks in to stop water from permeating the area.

* Hydrophanous waterproofing which works to resist compression, decrease corrosion of steel, eliminate the formation of cracks, and to extend the surface's life.

The term "rigid waterproofing" is used to mean treatments which will waterproof concrete structures. These include additives for concrete and coatings made of epoxy, plastic, or metal. Flexible waterproofing, on the other hand, is for non-rigid structures which are those capable of movement which could make them sustain damage and allow water to leak in. This type of waterproofing must be able to move with whatever it's protecting. Flexible treatments include membranes, asphalt, and polymer, vinyl, and acrylic emulsions.

You'll probably find that using one or a combination of products will take care of your water problems. The best way to know what to use is by contacting a waterproofing professional who can give you tips for what to use on your building. Whatever measures you take will have the positive result of preventing your building from being destroyed by water.

Law of Attracting Positive Things in Life

Step 1 Focus on what it is that you want with joy, and just know that you will get what you want or better. Each time you focus on your desires, see happiness and see it as if it already happened and give thanks.

Step 2 Why do you want it? Desire to have something is not enough. You need to change your belief system. Changing your belief system will allow your desires and want to flow effortless.

Step 3. Visualize when creating your desires. By visualizing your desires through mental pictures or by viewing actual pictures of your desires, such as a new home, or a shiny new car, you can easily keep your emotional vibrations at a level that communicate your intent is still strong.

Step 4 When do you want it? The more you talk and think about what you want and when you want it, the better. So add a time frame. "Thanks for helping me get $30,000 over the next 8 months, so that I can use to pay off my SUV."

Set up a moderate time frame in which to achieve your goal. "I want 10 million dollars by tomorrow"but most likely you won't be able to get yourself into alignment with that goal in time for it to actually come into existence, dream big but be rational.

Step 5 Believe IT you can ACHIEVE IT. You can have anything that you can think of as long as it's believable.

As you grow and develop more self confidence then what you believe you can accomplish will also grow. We are all restricted at an individual level by what we believe that we can have or deserve.

Step 6 Celebrate small victories. BUILD ON SUCCESS not FAILURES. As your confidence develop, so will your ability to manifest at a greater level.

Step 7 Focus on what you've done that was successful, and this relative only to you. It doesn't matter what others have accomplished at this point. Focus simply on your SUCCESS.

So get out of your comfort zone and start living the good life.

Renovate Your Bathroom in a Green Way

Green..green..&..green. The word has really become quite important today in the perspective of increasing danger of global warming. We need to protect our resources and ensure that a minimum is wasted, and better if the wasted ones are recycled as well. So the entire focus is on saving the natural resources, be it the construction of your bedroom or renovation of the bathroom. Government and some private organizations like green building association are working towards it and helping residential communities, Realtors, and individuals.

Bathroom is the place of solitude where one want to feel relaxed in a healthy and hygienic environment. The bathroom remodeling may be the initial step of your home renovation. In such blue economy situation, saving money is the top priority while considering bathroom renovation. There is no greater way of adding value to your bathroom than a greener way. The most prominent benefit of green bathroom remodeling is saving of water and energy resources.

Renovation with Recycled Materials

A number of bathroom hardware made of recycled materials are becoming popular like tiles, vanities and flooring. The use of recycled fixtures like refinished counter-tops and sinks encourages green bathroom remodeling and save your valuable money as well as conserve natural resources. The old fashioned claw foot tubs are regaining its popularity and might be a good choice for you.

Reduce the Water Consumption

Minimizing the water consumption must be your top priority while planning for your bathroom renovation in an environment friendly way. It should be considered that how much water is used in your bathroom, during flushing the toilet or during shower. You can reduce your water consumption by almost 20% by switching from old traditional toilet to smaller dual-flush toilet.

Old water guzzling shower heads are the prime culprits of wasting water. Replacing them saves in water bills. Dual- flush toilets help saving the amount of green washed into the toilet. It has two flush modes, one is for number one that flushes less water compared to the number two mode. That will definitely cut down your energy bills.

Remodel with Durability

It has been found that most of the bathroom renovation does last only a few years, and most of the waste that reaches landfill sites come from home remodeling including bathroom remodeling. This kind of bathroom remodeling creates a bad impact on environment as well as on your pocket. You make ensure that your green bathroom remodeling is durable and last longer.

Jealous Again - Jealousy Among Musicians

Jealousy - do you feel it? Do you sense it in others? Does it hinder your relationships with other musicians? Does it sap your confidence? Does it block your creativity? Here are some questions to help you get clearer about the jealousy in your life.

1. What is my jealousy trying to teach me? Generally when I have a strong emotion towards a specific person it's either because that person represents something about me that I can't tolerate yet or because that person embodies something that I wish I could do or have. I remember being in a high school arts program and being incredibly envious of a fellow singer. What I was so painfully aware of (though I couldn't have articulated it at that time) was that this person was able to fully express herself and her talents, and I couldn't. I was a better singer at home in my bedroom than I was in front of other people, and THAT'S what I couldn't stand about the situation. By doing what I couldn't do, she shone a spotlight on my biggest challenge. It made it virtually impossible to have a good relationship with her.

2. How can I identify with this person as a fellow musician, instead of comparing our work? What opportunities are there for collaboration, mutual support and the exchange of ideas? Can I open myself to receiving gifts from this person - feedback, support and love? What can I, in turn, give to this person? Even the most famous, the most successful musician is a human being just like you. Find the connection. What can I give to a musician who's newer than I am?

3. How can I develop confidence in my unique message and express this authentically? I will never sound like this other musician, or anyone else for that matter. Influences may be heard, comparisons will inevitably be made, but my words will never come out exactly like theirs, because my "story", my life, my experiences, my collection of qualities, strengths and challenges are completely unique to me. When I honor my uniqueness my confidence grows, and it becomes pointless to compare myself to others - there's no comparison. This quote by Martha Graham further explains what I mean.

There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening, that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. - Martha Graham, quoted by Agnes DeMille, Martha: The Life and Work of Martha Graham

4. How can I turn my attention away from this other person and back to what I can do to further my own success and creative fulfillment? If I'm jealous of someone winning a songwriting contest, I can ask myself: how many songwriting contests have I entered? If I'm jealous of the size of their fan base, I can ask myself: how am I attracting new fans and how I am deepening my relationship with the ones I have now? If I'm jealous of the number of songs they've written, I can ask myself: what am I choosing to do with my time instead of writing songs?

5. Now that I've learned from it, how can I let go of my jealousy? Often in life we hang on to emotions long after they've served their usefulness. They become comfortable, familiar and safer than doing the work to get to the other side of them. And yet they can also weigh us down and block our creativity. Try the analogy FEEL. First, Feel your feeling - don't suppress it, actually let yourself feel it. Next, Express the feeling - write about it, sing about, talk about it with someone you trust, play it on an instrument or express it in art. Next, Explore the feeling - what is it trying to teach you, etc. as discussed above. And finally Let it Go. This can be as simple as saying a short prayer or affirmation ("I have let go of my jealousy", or "I have valuable and unique gifts to offer"), or writing the feeling on a piece of paper and tearing it up.

Jealousy has a lot to teach us. So when it shows up in your life, pay attention. If you notice jealousy in others, put yourself in their shoes and help them to identify with you. Reveal your humanity. Let them know that they've got something to offer you.

Building Construction Software - Making it Easy For Estimators to Produce Cost Projections

A building construction software program has become one of the most important tools in the construction profession. These programs have made it easier for estimators to produce cost projections; for architects to develop a building design; for contractors to plan for building codes and other legal concerns; and for the homeowner or building owner to get an idea of what the project would entail in terms of costs, time and compliance.

Types of software

A construction project is made up of various steps, so it is to be expected that software packages for this profession will be numerous and varied. One of the more widely-used types is the computer-aided design or CAD software that is used mostly by architects and engineers. These types of programs are used for creating building plans and drawings and allow the designer or architect to have a three-dimensional perception of the project at hand.

Software programs for estimating construction costs are another of the more commonly used packages in the building trade. Programs for estimating building costs allow the user to produce expense approximates, employee and equipment scheduling plans, contractor bids, project reports and other elements of the project that have something to do with costs. These software packages can be purchased, but there are also those that are available for free in the Internet. However, free programs are mainly basic in terms of functions and can only provide rough estimates.

There are also programs for accounting, which help in keeping tabs of the costs of the project and provide bookkeeping information; software for environment and energy compliance concerns; programs for project contracts; and software packages that guide the owner and the builder through building codes and legal issues associated with a construction project.

What to look for in a software program

For those who are not very familiar with using CAD or other building trade software packages, it is important to choose the ones that are easy to use and can provide information that is not too muddled with unnecessary jargon. In buying software for a building project, look for brands that provide specific information about costs, plans and designs. The various screens should also be easy to understand, which means that they provide detailed information in the simplest language possible. The steps that it would take for a software user to perform basic actions should also be considered - the fewer, the better.

Building construction software products have revolutionized the architecture and construction industry. Whether you're a home owner or a builder or an architect, getting yourself familiar with these modern tools will go a long way towards helping you have a successful building project or a well-designed, within-the-budget home.

The Emotional Freedom Technique - How Long Does it Take?

Two of the most asked questions I get with the Emotional Freedom Technique is, "How long does a session take?" and more importantly, "How long will it take to see some results?"

The first question is easy but the answer doesn'tprovide much in the way of useful information because you can control how long a session lasts. You can easily set a time limit and end your session when the clock says it's time to go. You should make sure you're at a good point when you do end. If you're in the middle of something big when the allotted time is up,you would be wise to keep going until you feel good. And if you are feeling goodand your session timestill has five minutes to go, I wouldn't start on anything else.

Even if you schedule yourselfa one minute EFTsession eachday, you're going to get some benefits.

The second question is really more important for most people. It's also impossible to answer because what seems simple on the outside may be a hornets nest when you get into it. On the other hand, what looks complicated may be easily and quickly resolved.

A person I worked with had a fear of heights. EFT usually produces quick results with fears, eliminating them in as little as five to ten minutes. This person took thirty minutes of tapping just to get her fear down to a point where she could climb on a step stool. With this person, eliminating one problem revealed a deeper layer of the problem and she had many layers.

Another client of mine had developed a resting heart rate of about 95 beats per minute. Her heart rate used to be normal which is around 72 bpm. She had been to numerous doctors and been given all sorts of drugs trying to lower back to where is should be. I taught her the tapping points and we did one "practice" round to make sure she knew how to word her affirmation and knew where and how to tap. Then we did a real round. We didn't even address any psychological aspects. We just tapped on the physical problem. After those two rounds, her pulse was 65 bpm. I knew EFT worked quickly but that result floored me. It amazed her even more.

I never would have guessed either the fear of heights would have taken so long or the heart rate problem would show results so immediately. It's simply impossible toestimate with any certainty how long it's going to take to fix a problem.

It's important to realize that in the world of EFT, considerations about treatment times are a bit skewed. In EFTworld, taking 30 minutes to completely resolve a fear of heights is considered slow. In the world of traditional psychotherapy, it's considered impossible.

Green Homes - Ugly Ducklings Or Beautiful Swans

A "green" home is a home that is highly energy efficient, has excellent indoor environment, and is built to exceed local building codes. So are they ugly then?Look like the Jetson's space-age house? So obvious they would stick out like a sore thumb? No. No. and No.A green home looks just like conventional construction inside and out.

The beginning of a green home is a set of plans that starts with a conventional floor plan and elevations. Then an experienced green home building will modify the systems of the house to accommodate green home features and energy saving devises -A geothermal system rather than air conditioning; in-floor heating rather than a conventional natural gas forced air system; a grey water recapture system; energy efficient windows, doors, appliances, and water heater; and high quality, high 'R'rated insulation.

The best part is that these systems work very different from their conventional counterparts, but are invisible to the homeowner and their guests. The home will be quieter and cleaner without the dust and noise of conventional forced air heating. And the energy cost savings are substantial, depending on your particular situation.

Energy Star appliances sip electricity but are similar or identical to your current appliances. And cabinets and trim can be identical to conventional houses or use recycled material or earth-friendly woods for a more eco-friendly alternatives.

The cladding and shingles on the outside of the home are no different than a conventional home making the home blend in to its neighborhood seamlessly. However, the market value is probably higher than the surrounding homes due to its energy saving advantages and tax incentives.

So a green home is a beautiful swan, not an ugly duckling, at all!

Green Real Estate Upgrades and Renovations - How to Save Money on Heating and Cooling

The following interview was conducted with Marlayna Phenechka, a building subcontractor based in Asheville, North Carolina who practices green building and sustainable thinking. Phenechka has worked on both residential and commercial real estate projects in North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. She outlines some basic upgrades to facilitate more efficient and less expensive heating and cooling. The upgrades are a smart investment for the average consumer since the money spent is quickly recouped.

Turn Off the Hot Water! On-Demand Hot Water Heaters
(Estimated Cost: $250-800 Labor: $400-1400)

The resources used to heat water is expensive, often the second highest residential energy use in homes. Did you know most hot water heaters in homes are designed to keep water hot constantly? One good way to save electricity or gas is to simply turn off the hot water, and turn it on only when needed. Consult an electrician to install a timer or switch. Have them turn the water heater down from a manufacture's scalding 140 to 115 degrees. Another overlooked method to cutting costly water utility bills is to simply buy a 'blanket' for your water heater.

In Europe, modern Asia and Israel, On-Demand, or Tankless, Hot Water Heaters are more common than the hot water tanks in US homes. These cost effective, efficient devices turn hot water off unless it's in use. Phenechka says, "There's an off mode on this system. There is no pilot light either, which saves valuable energy. Many On-Demand Hot Water Heaters are even made with a temperature remote control feature so the user can adjust the temperature to his or her preference, saving even more energy."

The best On-Demand or Tankless Hot Water Heater uses liquid propane or gas as a source of energy. If main power is shut down for some reason there will still be hot water. "The size of an On-Demand Hot Water Heater is about the same as a backpack and weighs approximately 30-40 pounds," Phenechka adds. In some cases, installing a gas line to fuel the On-Demand Hot Water Heater may incur an extra expense, though liquid propane may be a better option. The majority of US states offer a tax credit for these devices.

Heat Pump Heating and Cooling Systems
(Estimated Cost for the system and installation $3,000-8,500)

Heat Pumps are a great way to conserve money on heating and cooling. "Some heat pumps come with heat and air conditioning and are well worth the initial investment. During milder winter days, the heat pump draws in warm air through the home's ducts; in the summer, it pulls in cool air and dehumidifies it at the same time," says Phenechka. A heat pump is far more efficient then many other heating and cooling systems and saves some homeowners as much as $100 per month or more. Make sure you purchase a programmable thermostat with the system and check and seal any leaks all your original air ducts and returns to optimize your investment!

Attic Exhaust Fan
(Estimated Cost: $80-$250)

Installing (or repairing) an exhaust, or gable, fan in the attic can make a huge difference in airflow, humidity, and temperature in a home. Solar exhaust fans, with their own tiny solar panel are now available at many of the big box stores! Hot air especially gets trapped in the attic, and without an exhaust fan, it is hard for this air to move and the home's temperature stays high. Attic fans are easily installed, and most have sensors for temperature and humidity so the fan automatically turns on. A gable fan ensures that even if there is air conditioning in the home it is not overused.

There is also a whole house fan system made to work in conjunction with an attic fan. The whole house fan system is an alternative to air conditioning especially in cooler, dry climates. It harnesses and pulls in the cool air that exists outside to the interior of a home through open windows at night.

Ceiling Fans
(Cost: $50-$100 each)

Ceiling fans also eliminate much of the need for air conditioning and sometimes act as a complete alternative to AC. "Ceiling fans have a wind chill factor of three and up," states Phenechka "a ceiling fan in each room can have a huge impact on the comfort inside." When a home is being heated in the winter, a ceiling fan will help spread the heated air more evenly throughout the house. Ceiling fans are a great way to upgrade a home, and many attractive fans, some with lighting fixtures, are available to choose from. Don't forget to use energy efficient bulbs in the ceiling fan for increased energy savings.

Green Upgrades and Renovations for Commercial Real Estate

Many of the green strategies mentioned not only have value for residential homeowners but also for commercial real estate such as retail stores, office buildings, apartment buildings, factory plants, restaurants and shopping malls. Heating and cooling costs are a major issue for commercial real estate developers and investors. If you want to save money on monthly bills consider hiring a green building and renovation specialist to upgrade the heating and cooling system of your commercial property. Commercial fan systems and on demand hot water heaters can hold great long term value for commercial real estate owners and are a healthy business investment.

These simple, green living recommendations will make your home or building more energy efficient and save you money over the long term. Whether you have hundred or thousands to spend on environmentally conscious, real estate upgrades and renovations there are affordable green solutions to keep your heating and cooling costs down. In a time of rising energy costs, it makes sense to go green. These kinds of heating and cooling upgrades and renovations will increase the value of your commercial or residential property and make it more attractive to future buyers.

Simple Words Create Powerful Beliefs

Your Attitude, Health and Happiness Are Interlinked

Have you ever considered that your attitude and emotional state affects your physical health? Sure, you have, we all have and do you know why? Well, because your attitude, health, happiness and immune system are all inter-linked. When we are happy, we feel better.

Some people say this is all non-sense, but we all know that it isn't, we know because we know how we feel. Scientists have done many studies showing that high stress physiologically causes higher blood pressure and depletes vitamins in the body and increases chemicals that can cause health issues if they are too prevalent in the body without a rest period.

Would you like to know how to create positive thinking and promote a good bio-feedback strategy to help assist in bettering your peace of mind, limiting your stress and thus, hopefully betting your health? If so, may I please recommend a very good book to you:

"Heal Your Body; The Mental Causes for Physical Illness and the Metaphysical Way to Overcome Them" by Louise L. Hay, 1982.

Self help books dealing in mind, body and soul have been very popular in the last decade and every once in a while it is good to go back and read one from a few decades the prior. You will find that many of the self help books of today are merely re-hashes and concepts discussed long-ago. Whether you are one who meditates regularly or thinks it's all for the birds, you will enjoy reading this book. It will all begin to make sense to you and it will definitely make you happier, healthier and less stressed. Please consider this book.

Your Hardest Day In Life

Get Your Home Organized Today!

Yes it's that time of year again, the time to make New Years resolutions. Maybe you want to lose weight, stop smoking or if you are like me, finally to get my life and home in order.

I'm a mother of three, three kids under the age of 7; let's just say organization went out the window at kid number two. Don't get me wrong I love my children they are the highlight of my life. But, that being said, they are the source of mass disorganization. In my house there was no rhyme or reason. Maybe you are just one of those naturally organized people, well bless your soul; I was not blessed with that talent.

I spend my Saturday mornings sipping a cup of coffee, watching my favorite TLC programs "Clean Sweep", "Home Made Simple" and "Trading Spaces". The ideas they give seem great, but impractical for actually putting to use in every day life, and like I said as a mother of 3, who has time.
But still, not being able to find something when I need, or tripping on toys at every turn has turned into a great source of irritation to me. I just want some order in my house so maybe I could have some order in my life.

So as usual in this day and age, I got on line and did a search to find ways to simply, quickly and without too much time and effort, find ways to get my house organized. There was a ton of information, but I was lucky enough to stumble on some sites, that had great tips, were easy to follow and finally put some peace and order in my house. Any one can do it, without having to call in the "Clean Sweep" team.

If you were like me and wanted to put some order in your life and home, check out these websites for great tips and books on how to get your home in order. http://getorgnow.weebly.com

How I Achieved Personal Happiness

Today I am a happy person, I am proud and I am content. Why? Well because I have managed to turn my life around. No longer am I that paranoid man with a low self-confidence. I now live life with a smile on my face and am very much looking forward to the future. In this article I will be describing how I went about and succeeded in making these life changes.

Besides my nervous way of speaking, the following areas of confidence coaching were of interest to me:

I had, for whatever reason, a lack of belief at the workplace

I had a negative belief that I would fail in whichever task I attempted to do

I wanted to become far more assertive

I would often get dragged down by negative comments

I was paranoid (at least a subtle feeling) that people don't like me

I used to walk around as if the world owed me something and would often feel
very sorry for myself

I wanted to be able to speak with authority and presence

I wanted to see fear and anxiety as a challenge and not as a prison cell

I wanted to learn to be self-assured and to be able to feel comfortable in any place, anytime

I wanted to be able to talk to anyone, at anytime and feel completely in control and natural

As you can see I wanted quite a lot! By reading literature about how to gain confidence, how to increase self-confidence and about how to become a success helped me, in some degree, with all of the above. I realised that I needed to be a lot more care-free, I needed to stop worrying about what other people thought of me and I needed to appreciate what I had in life. Only by doing this will I ever have any chance of becoming a success.

Considering a Home Improvement Project?

It is so tempting to make changes to your home. No matter how nice your home may be, there are still things that could be changed. Millions of homeowners have taken advantage of home equity loans in the past few years. They have remodeled their homes in many ways.

But many of them find that they are unable to recoup all of the money they put into their improvements. Not all home improvements are seen the same by buyers, so how do you know which improvements bring the most bang for your buck?

Home improvement recoups vary according to the region. They can even vary by the region. In most areas, you can expect to recoup less of your investment in a slow real estate market than in a hotter real estate market. If home prices aren't appreciating rapidly, you may find that your improvement costs may not be totally regained. One of the most popular projects, finishing out a basement, sees the lowest rate of return -- at less than 50% of your costs. So, if you spend $12,000 to refinish your basement, you can expect your home's value to increase at resale by less than $6,000.

Kitchen remodeling and bathroom additions are often the best improvements for recouping your expenses. They will often pay you back 75% to 90% of your costs. Swimming pools will usually get you only 10% of your cost. Whirlpool tubs, fireplaces and decks all fair just as poorly as pools. The fact is, what is important to you may not be important to the buyer. And after all, the things are no longer new, they are used.

The top improvements for recuperating your expenses include:

  • Kitchen improvements
  • Adding or remodeling a bathroom
  • Adding a room
  • Landscaping
  • Adding a bedroom
  • Adding a garage

I understand that you can't always decide on home improvements based on the financial side. You may simply need more space. Or you may really want that whirlpool tub. Just try to stay within reason. Remember, it never pays to be the largest or most expensive house in the neighborhood. It will be difficult to sell your place if it costs much more than those around you. The value of your home will be affected by those around you. So if you make your home larger or more expensive than the ones next door, you probably will lose out on your recovery of costs.

Consider your future plans for your home closely when deciding what home improvements to make. If you are planning on selling in the next five years, you may recover only a small percentage of the money you put into your home. And you definitely don't want to owe more on it than you can sell it for.

If you are planning on making improvements in order to increase the selling price, make sure you do some research. Talk with realtors in your area, builders and other industry professionals about the areas you should concentrate your efforts on.

How to Be Funny, Become Popular and Be the Life of the Party

Funny people are fun to be with. Everyone enjoys their company. Learn how to be funny and you'll be the life of the party. At parties you'll be surrounded by a circle of friends, eager tolisten to your funny stories and laugh at your jokes. People want to be entertained.

Make jokes and tell funny storiesand you'll bewelcome everywhere you go.

Some people find it easy to be funny. It seemsto be a natural gift. In actual fact it's a skill they learnt aschildren. Children love to do funny things in order to be the centre of attention. They learn to attract attention by making funny faces, dressing up with funny clothes or saying funny things.

It's quite natural to want to be popular; to be noticed, admired and accepted. Perhaps you may be a quiet, modest, retiring sort of person, prepared to always be in the background while others get all the attention. But think how nice it would be to change your image.

Wouldn't you like people to find you amusing and entertaining? Wouldn't you like to have people crowd around you at parties, laughing at your funny stories?

Being funny is a skill. Fortunately it's a skill you can learn. It's never too late to start learning to be funny. Knowing the best wayto tell funny jokes and funny stories is easier than you think. It does take a little bit of effort and practice, but learning to be funny is not as difficult as you think.

Here is some useful advice:

(1) Make a point of remembering jokes you've heard or read recently. They don't have to be vulgar to be funny. In fact it is probably not a good idea to tell a dirty joke unless you are absolutely sure that all the people who are listening to you enjoy this type of joke.

There are hundreds of really funny jokes on the internet. Choose jokes that really amuse you. If you find them really funny yourself, you are going to find it easy to memorize them. A good way to memorize jokes is to practice saying them to yourself in front of a mirror, just as you would do if you had to deliver a speech.

In telling a joke, remember that timing is everything. Make sure you deliver the punch line at the right time. How do you do this? Practice. Before you tell the joke to even a few friends, make a point of practicing it in private.

(2) In addition to remembering funny jokes that you have heard recently, make a point of remembering funny quotes and funny remarks. Try and remember as many as you can and then use them at appropriate times.

Here again, the internet is a wonderful source of extremely clever and funny quotes. Very often these funny quotes were made by famous people. In using the quotes, at an appropriate time at a party, it's not necessary to pretend that the remark is something you made up yourself. If the remark is really clever and witty, it will be just as funny if you acknowledge the source.

For example, it's really easy to remember the remark that Winston Churchill made at a party when a lady sitting next to him informed him, very loudly, and in an aggressive manner: "Sir, you are drunk!" Churchill immediately replied: "Yes Madam, you are right. But you are ugly. Tomorrow I will be sober".

(3) When you tell a story, instead of making fun of someone else, in order to show how clever you are, it's a good idea to make fun of yourself. You don't have to do so in a way that makes you look like a complete idiot. Rather do so in a way that describes an embarrassing situation that happened to you.

How to be funny is definitely a skill you can learn. There are a number of courses available that will show you how to become funny.

Dennis Fisher is an author who has made a detailed study of humor and how funny people with a well-developed sense of humor, can influence the lives of others. He has also studied the lives of many famous comedians and the gag writers responsible for the material they used. For details of a course that I personally recommend, because it gives you the most detailed, step-by-step instructions how to be funny, go to http://www.expertfreeadvice.com/Howtobefunny.htm

Ten Reasons to Love Your Home Again

Alright, it's not a news flash that the real estate market is in trouble, and people are not selling their homes just to buy something that strikes their fancies. With too many foreclosed homes, the value of your home has decreased and the occasion to put it on the market and get a new, grander, or better home with all the proceeds has disappeared. Don't sit there and grouse; be pro-active. Rekindle the love you once had for the home you now live in.

Remember the first time you walked through your house, and the ideas that came to mind of how you could decorate to suit your taste and make it a home. Maybe you thought the bay window would be the perfect location to build a window seat, or that the kitchen would look fantastic with new countertops. But, did you accomplish some of that? In most instances, the response is no. You moved in, life went on, but your house stayed the same. It is not surprising that it is boring to you.

Your budget is the first and best place to start. If you don't know the amount of money you have available, you are not going to be able to write a list.

Here is some advice for you to begin with and you can do this without using a large amount of money for remodeling.

1. Paint the interior a fresh hue, especially if you still have the original white walls. Select a muted, conservative color, then add complementary colors for accent walls. Use a consistent color scheme throughout your house.

2. Find some modern window treatments and remove those old fashioned mini-blinds from your home. Be certain that your windows are sparkling clean to allow nature's light to shine in.

3. Move your furniture around. Living rooms contain furniture that is hardly ever used, and it's usually in much better condition than what's in the family room. Move the furniture around and put beautiful slipcovers on the older items for a fresh appearance to match the new color design.

4. Add new boldly colored throw rugs and pillows.

5. Contemplate resurfacing the kitchen cabinets. Put on different hardware or add hardware if there is none on your cabinets. The effect is astounding, considering it is such a small change.

6. Update the light fixtures, and get rid of any long tube fluorescent lights you may still have. Be sure that the light fixture compliments the new hardware.

7. Contemplate replacing the tops of the counters with a granite slab or an artificial covering like Corian. This could take up a large percentage of your budget, so consider granite tiles for a dramatic, yet inexpensive, option.

8. Upgrade the lights in the bathroom, coordinate with new hardware and use a fresh color scheme for rugs, soap dish, towels, and other accessories.

9. Choose an alternative color for the master bedroom to make it stand out from the rest of your home. Get rid of the old drapes and bedding, selecting something that will give the room a fresh, new look.

10. Change the plants in your home. It is a must to get rid of those droopy plants; after all they are not animals, just vegetation.

That should get the creativity flowing. Soon you will remember why you love your home. But if you still want to move, it won't take long for you to get ready for that first "open house" when the market turns around!

Samuel Classing lives in a small housing community in the Valencia California real estate market. He and his wife enjoy hiking in the great outdoors and recently started making trips to Pine Mountain Club after hearing the winding mountain trails and scenic vistas. They now look Frazier Park real estate.

Positive Self Talk - The Real Secret Weapon to Happiness

Positive self talk can transform your life and that's no understatement.

Imagine what your life would be like if you had a kid fresh out of college, fired up about the world, fired up about you. Imagine that this kid is going door to door selling YOU! She's fired up. She thinks you're the best. She's full of energy.

And now the best part of this is that she's really just a little genie sitting on your shoulder talking to you all day long. She doesn't see your flaws. She doesn't see your failures. She interprets all those things differently. Life is feeling pretty darned good. That's the power of positive self talk.

* Your failures aren't failures anymore; they're just missed tries.

* Your flaws aren't flaws anymore; they're just little quirks that will just change in time.

* Your hopes and dreams are completely realistic and exciting... because after all, you're the best!

Where can you get one of those little shoulder genies right? Well you can create one.

Positive self talk is unimaginably powerful. Your self talk is like having someone sitting on your shoulder whispering things to you, every day, every year for your entire life. So you really want it to be as positive as possible.

I mean if you were choosing a boss, would you choose one who yelled at you all the time and cut you down? Or one that was supportive and excited about you and your potential?

So here are some simple steps to creating one of those positive self talk genies:

* Take a few days or weeks to listen in. Just notice. Don't judge yourself. Don't try to change it, just listen. You can't change your self talk into positive self talk if you don't even know what you're saying to yourself! You might even want to jot down what you're hearing in a journal.

* After you have a good idea of how you're treating yourself through your self talk, intend to transform your relationship with yourself into a positive one. Intend that positive self talk is just going to become second nature for you. Intention is powerful and it sets the stage.

* Listen in regularly to your self talk and start interrupting. Even if you can't counter it with something positive just interrupting is powerful. You can even say something like "I'm not talking like that to myself anymore." That sends a powerful message to your brain.

* Actively seek out those things in your life and in you that you like and can honestly glow about and love. Get that positive self talk flowing. The catch here is that it really doesn't matter if you're talking about yourself or something out in the world. The only caveat is that it's positive and it feels good.

Pepper yourself positive, every day, in as many ways as you can and before long positive self talk will take root in a major way in your life and your life will flourish and that's no overstatement.

Expert Advice on Basement Construction

Basement construction is something you have to carefully plan before executing. One mistake and you could end up with problems year after year, and you really wouldn't want to have to deal with that and spend periodically for repairs. Let's take a look at some important points to make your basement dreams come to life.

Organize Ahead

The current basements may have weight rooms and saunas, home entertainment centers, lap pools and dance floors, climate-controlled wine cellars, bars, bedrooms and baths. Think about what you really want and visualize. Imagine what your empty basement will look like once you're done with it. You may then try to sketch out your concept, visit your basement, and visualize how you're going to put together your ideas.

Be Practical

Now's the time to consider the basics of basement construction. Make sure you know how to deal with the dampness, flooding, musty odors and mold. Hire an expert to establish the source of any water problems, including seasonal leakage, and ask for a solution. You may employ one or more sump pumps, with one run by a battery or generator lest a power outage. Utilize a dehumidified and employ appropriate ventilation. Moreover, consider installing other "necessities" such as water heater, furnace, wiring, heating/cooling systems, and so on. These should be highly accessible.

Get Creative

You are doing a cool basement construction project, not something that will look like every other basement out there. Don't leave your flooring as cold concrete. You could easily install wood products to warm up the place. It's as easy as tapping the floor pieces together over the concrete ground. Allow some light in by either adding windows or unique lighting fixtures. Observe other basement styles in your friend's basement and with photos online / in magazines. See what clever ideas and concepts they have. Sometimes, simply visualizing is not enough to make your dream basement a reality.

Get Started With The Appropriate Materials

Getting the right materials for your basement construction project is extremely important. First of all, materials and labor expenses are generally what establishes a project's overall cost. Don't expect to have only basic materials if you're planning on building a plush basement that nobody else in your neighborhood has. Common sense should be used here.

Get Clever

Your walls could have noticeable cracks. Consider using paint, murals, wallpaper or panels. In parts where the ceiling is lower due to plumbing, you cold employ built-in closets or features. There are many tricks to troubleshooting basement construction problems, such as employing vertical lines on the walls to create the illusion of height (for low-ceiling basements). To transform a cold basement to a warmer, more inviting one, use dimmed lights with a yellowish glow (rather than white fluorescent ones), area rugs (wall-to-wall carpets can create moisture issues), and warmer tones for wall paints and furniture fabric. Don't forget the staircase-this is the first people will actually notice. So try to match the staircase with the overall design of your basement. Think about employing a French door so that you keep noise away but can still view what's going on.

Making Your Realtor Web Site Pay For Itself

Most home buyers start their home search on the net. If you're a real estate agent or broker and you think your website should be doing more, you're not alone. Realtors are in a very competitive business and a good web site will make your business more successful.

A realtor's website design needs to accomplish several things. First, your realtor site represents your business image and your value proposition, or why that buyer should choose you as their agent. If your website looks like it was done by a 12 year old, that's the first impression you're going to project! If you're not good at graphic design, this is not the place to learn. It's your business, and the success of your realtor business on the internet starts with a good, professional web design and reliable web hosting.

Several choices are available that can put you ahead of the "do-it-yourself" look, quickly and painlessly. For a few hundred bucks, you can get a simple, but professionally designed web site designed specifically for your realtor business. Sure, even more generic template websites are available for less, but why reinvent the wheel? A good realtor website is specifically designed for addressing things like mls listings, mortgage calculators, pictures, pdf files for floor plans and other necessary items.

Unless you want your site to look like hundreds of other realtors, you should consider a limited edition type of website. These are more a structure than a template and allow you to choose from thousands of pictures and the better companies will provide you with several hours of graphic design time.

When you really want to stand out, full custom realtor web sites are the way to go. While you can go to a graphic designer and spend a great deal to get an exquisitely beautiful site, a number of realtor website companies have custom design packages that give you a great first impression, provide the features you need, and keep the costs reasonable.

Second, your time is better spent with customers, rather than fiddling on the computer putting in listings and making time consuming basic updates. That's where using a company that makes realtor websites and provides hosting can be a big plus. Better ones, have an administrative section that simplifies or automates many functions that can take away precious selling time. Automatic MLS listing updates, and check boxes to automatically add links to local attractions or other necessary area information are some examples. A few now have the ability to have your own blog, and link to maps at the click of the mouse. That's also why they appear to be more expensive than other hosting solutions. If you were to have someone add that kind of functionality, you'd be paying a lot more!

Third, you need to be found on the internet by Google, Yahoo! And the other large search engines. That means that what you say on your website pages is important. Start by looking at the sites that show up when you search for real estate agents or homes in your market area and see what they do. You also need to have your site listed with the search engines, a service that is usually provided by the realtor website companies at no additional cost. If you're creating your own website, then you need to make sure you do this as soon as your site is live. It may take several months before Google or other web bots find your site, but the results are well worth it. If you're still not seeing results, you may want to enlist the services of a search engine optimization specialist, many of who are available as a service by the realtor web companies.

These people know exactly what it takes to be found on the internet and are worth their weight in gold!

Follow these steps and you'll see your realty business success grow on the web in no time. A well designed realtor web site that attracts searchers, projects a professional image and provides information and resources to buyers is an asset that will pay
BIG dividends!

Down With Self Help!

Growth of the self-help industry has been huge and continues to grow. It is successful to a great degree because it plays on the fears and desires of the general population. The main reason people buy anything is to absolve fear and discomfort. Oftentimes wealth is seen as the main cure; therefore, the self-help gurus focus on providing hope that wealth is attainable: Tony Robbins, Marc Joyner, T Harv Ecker, Mark Victor Hansen, Mark Flournoy, Robert Kiyosaki.

But does self-help work? Or better yet, do the cons5B4umers of all this self-help do the work necessary to achieve success? In addition, we would have to define success for each person to be even more accurate in our appraisal. Let's leave that alone, for obvious reasons, and focus on how many not only buy the books and CDs, attend the workshops and seminars, but actually do the work.

To begin, we need to see some statistics that verify effectiveness of self-help philosophies and methodologies. According to Forbes Magazine, no research has been done. Well, if we don't have any research on how successful self-help consumers have been over the years, we can get a feel from some examples.

Mark Joyner, a successful self-help guru, spoke of a meeting attended by hundreds of people, and during that meeting, he asked how many had read Napoleon Hills Think and Grow Rich. Most raised their hands. He next asked the group of hundreds how many had applied a particular principle that Hill states needs to be done every day to insure success. Only a few raised their hands. I have heard of other cases where work shop and seminar attendees have been asked if they've obtained success and few if any raised their hands. On PBS I have watched T Harv Ecker, author of Secrets of The Millionaire Mind, and Robert Kiyosaki, Rich Dad Poor Dad author, speak before crowds of mostly octogenarians, people who lack the time and energy to pursue wealth. How many attend these workshop merely to get a success hi5B4gh?

I was reading a sales and marketing book by Dan Kennedy the other day, one of the top information experts in his niche, and he stated that he had attended all the seminars, read all the books, listened to all the tapes, did the exercises, listened to the subliminal messages, spoke the daily mantra . . . and he was still broke. How did he eventually solve his problem? He applied the method of supply and demand to his availability, making himself scarce so that others perceived him to have greater value than he actually had--at least in the beginning--then he became successful.

The message? Maybe it's time to get doing and stop reading, listening, attending, and complaining. I personally know several seminar junkies who merely attend to get that success high, for over the years they have done nothing to increase their wealth. But if we look closer, how many people are actually geared for success? Meaning, if they get their hands on the success material, how many will be persistent enough to read, re-read and re-read, and put forth the sustained, concerted effort month after month, year after year, required to even have a chance at success? There are a lot of variables involved in being successful: racial, socioeconomic, gender, cultural, physical disadvantages and so on. For now, let's look at who has a greater chance at success in more general terms.

According to Hippocrates, there are four personality types: cholerB68ic, sanguine, phlegmatic, melancholy. Over the years others have come up with their own labels and modified definitions of these four types over thirty different equivalents. Nevertheless, they describe a division of types that describe most people. To define Hippocrates four types, the sanguine is optimistic, melancholic depressed, phlegmatic calm, and the choleric irritable. Keep in mind that very rarely does any single person fit just one personality type. Of course, there is overlap. But most motivators, or those who feel that they have the answer to getting you going, are generally choleric. And most of those who go it alone and are successful" are of this personality type. Of course, the melancholic and phlegmatic have much less of a chance at success, but let's take a closer look at Cholerics.

Cholerics are strong willed, independent, decisive, and opinionated, meaning that cholerics not only make decisions for themselves but others. "My opinion is that I should be goal and success oriented; therefore, everyone should be goal and success oriented. And of course, my method is the best way, pretty much the only way, even though I may qualify by not saying so, but I do that just to keep you coming back for more."

Few self-help gurus ever entertain the fact that not everyone is goal oriented, wants to be goal oriented, has ever thought about being goal oriented, or doesn't care about being goal oriented. Then again, the gurus may know this fact, but they aren't telling because it just may cut into the profits. Honesty is not the best fiscal policy.

As I alluded to above, an important question may arise from the consumer, which method is best for me? How do I know? No one's done a comparative analysis, letting us know according to, maybe, personality type, that tony Robbins is best for me, Mark Joyner for you, Marc Victor Hansen for Bill, and Robert Kiyosaki for Suzy. But I don't know. Maybe we're supposed to buy the stuff of every guru, pull out the bits and pieces that work best for us, and patch together our own system. But that would be too much work. And an important point to consider is that according to marketing experts, people are three things: lazy, selfish, and they're right, meaning, that since they have "our money," what they say goes. So my question for self-help gurus is how do you get the lazy, selfish people motivated to even pick up your book or listen to your CD's? Well, thats another book, CD, seminar to make some money off of, isn't it?

The Secret to a Quality Kitchen on a Tight Budget

Sure, that Italian marble and Viking gas range are ideal for any kitchen, but they may not be part of a conservative budget. Even if you cannot afford all of the best imports from around the world, you can still design a space that you will be proud to spend time in.

One of the best ways to spruce up any space is to add a bit of paint. Adding some new hues to the walls inside of your kitchen will brighten up the area, but those cabinets could use a new coat as well. Whether you decide to stain and varnish or use melamine paint, do not neglect your kitchen cabinets.

Another great, and inexpensive, renovation idea is to change up the backsplash a bit. There are numerous new products on the market that are simply a matter of peel and stick. Or, you could branch out into the ceramic subway tile idea, which is also relatively cost effective.

How are those kitchen curtains looking? If yours are grease stained and faded, it may be time for a bit of a curtain facelift. Add a few cafe inspired curtains to your room by mounting a simple panel across the bottom portion of the window. Try to leave the tops bare for a truly authentic look.

While we are on the subject of curtains, why not skip them altogether? Thin wooden blinds often present a cleaner look than any fabric panel can, and they are surprisingly cheap. If you love your current look, toss the existing panels into the wash to bring the color back into the fabric.

Aside from curtains, paint, and a new backsplash, the cabinet and drawer pulls inside of your kitchen may also need some attention. If you have a bit of extra cash to spare, check out some auction sites online for antique pulls. You will be pleasantly surprised at the difference that new hardware makes.

All of these sprucing up tricks and tips are well under that one hundred dollar mark. Yet, these small changes really make a huge difference inside of any kitchen. Replacing all of the cabinet and countertops is a great idea, but these larger projects can be done at a later time.

It does not have to cost a fortune to renovate your kitchen space. All you really need are a few great ideas, some elbow grease, and a bit of inspiration. As soon as you give your kitchen a new look, you will find that whipping up those nightly meals is a lot easier to do.
